Lovely pics! John's cat Kidder regularly rolls in the dirt. He asked me
today (over the phone) "Do you think all our animals would get along?"
Heck, I don't know. He has three dogs, 2 cats (Kidder is the only cat
normally visible - Midnight hides). I have one solitary (came to me
front-declawed) cat and a lovebird. The lovebird, no problem - cages can be
hung up out of reach. Persia? Beats me.

Great Pictures!!! Chablis is a dirt roller. Sometimes she comes in & looks
like she's been dusted in talc.... It's hilarious! Why do the do it, do you
suppose? I mean, other than the obvious mandate from the mothership....

Thanx for the pics. Otis looks dirty all right....but happy.
Chester must let Otis have "senior authority"; they look
about the same size.

They are about the same size alright and Chester is better protected by his
thick fur for fighting. Chester just lets Otis have the "You care more than
I do authourity". Chester loves his hoomins ok doesn't need us 24/7. Otis
is a very needy cat. Chester runs off and plays jungle cat in someone
else's bushes and comes home ha-ha-happy to see us. Otis hangs by the house
all day just waiting for someone to pay to attention to him.

I have a weird theory that it actually cleans them somehow - like shampoo.
The dirt picks up stuff from their coat, they scratch themselves with the
dirt, and then, when they groom or rub the dirt away, it takes away anything
else from their coat???? Is Chablis a short hair too? Chester is medium
hair and rarely comes home dirty. I wonder if its a short hair grooming
trick.

I think you may be right about the cleaning thing, mabey the dust bonds with
the oil in their fur & makes it easier to get off...?

My goodness. How on earth do you get him clean???

LOL - he's pretty dirty isn't he :-) Well, sometimes he shows up later very
clean (grooming, rolling on grass, wind for the big chunks????) and
sometimes he shows up just like that. Again, more grooming and certain
rolling around on my bed afterwards :-(

He bathes in dirt?!?!?!?!?! What does he think he is, a chicken? ;-)
He's getting rather large, isn't he? How heavy is he?
Chester is a cutiepie!

Ahem ... well, yes, he's become a little large. He was 12.2 after he was
lost last summer, he'd lost about a pound from 13.2. Now he's 14.2 *and*
he's been on a diet for about a month. I'm carefully cutting back their
food a bit since I know its not nice for them to be heavy as they age. Poor
guys.

LOL at dirty Otis. Nikki loves rolling around in the dirt, too. Chester
