Mere was four months old on Wednesday the 30th, and I forgot to
celebrate! I think someone's getting chickie today.
Mere is now fearless. She goes anywhere in the flat. She feels at home
in the bedroom as in the living room. She baps Frank while he's eating
and attacks his tail when he's sleeping unless I'm there to stop her,
and sometimes I'm too late. I do try to keep her off him, because he
seems a bit nervous. I think he should give her a good bap back, but
he's too kind to do that. Sometimes he raises a paw at her, but that's
all. No contact. Sometimes, when her back is turned or she's sleeping,
he will go up to her and veeeery carefully stretch out his neck to sniff
her, but if she makes the slightest move, he hurries away again.
Nikki is getting more rough with Mere, but I think that's as it should
be. Mere shows no fear of her anyway, just keeps out of her paws' reach.
At least she respects *some*one. She certainly doesn't respect me. All
her hoolikitten traits are appearing, like trying to climb the curtains,
playing among the cords of the computer however many times I remove her
(have to try that tabasco trick), and tipping over potted plants. At
least I think she's learned that Meowmie does not like her launching off
the floor and climbing up my back.
Of course she makes up for it all with her cuteness. She will give me
that big-eyed innocent look when she's done something bad, she sleeps in
my arms and purrs, she gets under the covers at night and sleeps pressed
up against me. She does something I've heard of but never experienced
with a cat; one morning when I was sitting on the porcelain bowl,
meditating deeply, she climbed into the hammock made by my tights. Since
then, she will often visit 'the hammock' when I visit the bowl. She
usually plays around a while, then gets out, bt sometimes she settles
down to sleep and then I have to lift her out.

That made me smile. It was summer when we got Rosie and often I'd wear
drawstring pants. She loved to play with the strings when they were in
reach.

Marina, that's hilarious. I'm glad the integration has gone so well. Poor
Franki, but he is being so nice to her. Nikki has to show her some manners,
eh?
I hope everything stays copasetic, as they say.

Pretty soon, you will have to write from Frank's POV :)

You've been a tad busy overseeing the integration (and snapping photos!)
Purrs for Frank's nerves, Nikki's lesson-teaching and Mere's hoolikitten
antics ;)

Ah 4 months old. At that age Pippin broke one of my parents' dining room
chairs and less than a week later ruined the finish on their lacquered
rosewood dining table. (Both incidents were really my mother's fault.
She put a vase of flowers on the table, which were irresistible to a
teenage cat.)
My condolences ;-) Hide the car keys Marina!
Cheers

Uhhuh. Last night, Mere partially ripped down a curtain as she was
climbing it. This morning she ripped down the rest of it and fell to the
floor with it. Apparently this was great fun, as she now goes around
eyeing the other curtains.
