Well, in spite of ankle and all (saw the doctor yesterday and yep,
it's sprained), managed to get a friend to come over today to help me
get Cosmo to the vet to get some fluids in him. I also decided to
take Sabra, since I am so worried about him and tired of *his* vet's
shrugging shoulders and saying "he's old." Cosmo did really well (of
course! Grrrrr. Wish he'd be that way at home). Sabra, however,
went nuts on the vets when they insulted his dignity with a
thermometer, and when they tried to draw blood. In fact, they had to
get out the Kitty Bag ("I need one of those!" I said) to get blood
from him. His veins are weak, so it was slow going. Poor guy. He is
down to 8 lbs. from 11 lbs. about a year ago :-( Slightly dehydrated,
but not bad enough for fluids. No lumps or bumps where they shouldn't
be. They ran the thyroid test, and I'll know tomorrow if that's what
the problem is with his weight loss and poor coat. My friend Kris who
drove me delighted me by kindly offering to take me up to the the next
county north to get Arthur neutered at their low-cost clinic. Yeah!
So I will call them and get that set up. It's a long drive, but at
least he will be done :-)
I sold the car today. A guy who buys them and sells off parts knocked
at my door, and offered me $100. I'm incredibly disappointed; we need
so much more, but absolutely no one wanted to spend more than that for
this car. So I just said "heck with it, just do it", and it's gone.
And, finally, as I got home from the vet's, there was a message on the
machine. My good friend Phil has passed away. I'm in shock. He was
in his 60s, and had heart surgery a little over a year ago, but I
wasn't expecting this. He's been a friend for some 25 odd years, and
I will miss him. I gave fluids to he and his wife's cat for a week
once, which made me think I could do Cosmo's. Hah.
Okay, so I'm losing it. Just so you know.

Dear Ginger-lyn, you are getting more than your share of the trials
and tribulations of life. Heaven must consider you a strong person not
to cave in. But then you are supported by a huge world-wide community
of friends. We are sending many loving purrs for you. At least you
have a few bright spots among the bad times. I am so glad to hear you
have a helpful friend. That is a blessing. And what is a "kitty bag"?
I am lighting a candle for your friend. Hugs and Purrs,

Sounds like a good idea. It always all happens at once and I'm
thinking of you and hoping things get better soon. In the meantime,
pour that wine (I'd bring some over but I'm in the UK) and watch that
telly!
