Or she could be the wander dog. Poo loves the whole world. Which is a
wonder with her start in life. Her mama is a pedigreed dog; but her
papa is a tramp who jumped in the fenced yard and had his way with a
royal lady. When the human saw the resultant puppy, he was royally
p*ssed, being in the business for the money. He was going to drown the
puppy; but he was being visited by his warm-hearted sister at the
time. She used the age-old woman's wiles of tears, and took the puppy
home with her after the puppy was weaned.
Poo was named Poo as a puppy. It stands for you know what. Poo had
little house training, being home with a lady in a wheel chair and
unable to give discipline, either physically or mentally. Poo was good
with training when the lady's husband was home. Unfortunately, he
worked long hours.
Poo happily joined the rest of the family on the king-sized bed at
night: two more dogs and two cats and two humans. She was happy as a
lark. The old cat and the old dog tried to discipline her. But the
young dog took over training her instinctive fighting/attacking
skills. The young cat suffered the puppy to treat him as a wrestling
partner until the puppy grew larger than he was. Then the cat taught
the puppy how to race. In the meantime, every morning at daybreak, the
pets wrestled and played and barked and meowed to wake up the humans.
It helped a lot when they all wrestled on top of the humans. Then they
got to go outside!
Poo soon began to teethe and chewed everything she got a hold of. The
humans had to Poo-proof the house. Everything was put up high or in
cupboards. So Poo brought in sticks of wood, etc. Sometimes she would
get yelled at when she did something worng. She would stop and give
the cutest look and run joyfully to leap in Mommy's lap and wash her
face. She was instantly forgiven until the next time.
Poo has the most loving, happy personality. All humans are here to pet
and love her. All pets are here for her to play with. Anything within
reach is a toy. Neverthless, she has learned some discipline. Maybe it
is because she is now two and a half years old.
Where Poo lives is out in the country where everyone has 5 acre lots
and few fences. Some dogs roam. One day, a new dog wandered by. He was
slim and long-legged like Poo; but has the coloring of a Spaniel.
Poo's family started calling him Barney, to give him a moniker. Barney
and Poo became Best Friends. Often, Barney will come to the house
early and bark and howl until the human would start swearing and let
Poo out. Then the two dogs will happily play for hours and wander the
neighborhood. Sometimes Barney won't show up for a day or two and Poo
will be desolate and very needy with her humans.
When Poo puts her paws on my lap and lifts her head to look into my
face with love, my eyes squint and get teary and my mouth curves into
a smile. I lean over and talk to her softly and she washes my face.
Then she takes that as an invitation and jumps into my lap and leans
against me with her head on top of mine. She is not a small dog.
