I've got a goose-egg of an abscess in the upper right side of my mouth
(which is thankfully, going down). The pain was intense and
unbelievable, so I went to a (not very good) dentist.
The dentist was practically useless, the antibiotics ineffective (and
they refused to upgrade or change the prescription), and the pain meds
were short lived. I was in perpetual misery for close to a week.
I did finally change dentists, and all is mostly well (need to pull a
couple of teeth - heavy sigh).
In the midst of my misery, I had laid down for a nap ("This medication
may cause drowsiness" - hmmmm).
I awoke to find Little Feet meatloafing on my chest, Buster lying
against my left side, with a paw on my chest, and Dulce Mae lying
against my right side, with one of her paws on my chest.
Now, either they were trying a healing ritual, or they were trying to
levitate me (better facilities on the Mother Ship?), I'm not sure
which (big grin).
But it was very comforting to see that a full staff of medical nurses
was on the job.
Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Awwwww! I could have used them during the last 3 weeks when I was sick.
I'll have to train mine better. :-)

Have always found cats extremely comforting when one
doesn't feel well.....they seem to sense this and zero in
like heat-seeking missiles.

Good to know your nurse to patient ratio is better than you could expect at
many hospitals. =o) I'm sure they thought a trip to the mother ship would
help you.
My sympathies with the dental woes!

What a delightful word picture!
I hope the pain is gone, or nearly so.

We were fostering Brian last year when I had my wisdom teeth removed, at the
ripe-young age of 38. They were horribly impacted, the surgery was nasty,
and I was ripped on a vile little troika of nitrous, some IV species of
narcotic, and Demerol. I floated into the house and into bed.
Three hours later, Louie in his glorious timing came in to wake me up so we
could go get our new car, and I was lying on my side; Brian and Stosh, the
big guys, were plastered tightly against my gut and thighs, and Roxie
stretched out against my back, as if they wanted to keep me on the ground.
I'm told I went to the Scion dealership, walked up to the salesman, and
said, "Hi there! I'm stoned out of my f**king mind!" Everyone was really
nice about it and got me coffee.
Blessed be,
Baha

That's sweet. They probably sensed you were in pain and tried a feline cat
ritual healing.

Hope you feel better soon, and get those troublesome teeth out. Glad
you had your personal nursing staff there to help you through the
worst of it!

Purrs for the pain to go away -- abscessed teeth raise the definition of
"misery" to a whole new level. :o(
Kudos to your kitty committee for being so attentive. Sounds like a
healing ritual to me, for sure. :o)
No wonder cats get so mad at the TED -- the feline process of caretaking
is SO much less invasive. ;o)
I see you're in good hands -- er, paws -- during your recuperation. Feel
better!
Donna, Captain, and Stanley, who are sending out some more purrs just in
case
P.S. from Captain and Stanley: Say, Uncle Mark, we have poultry-flavored
toothpaste from the TED that our Meowmy uses on us. We love it! She puts
it on our teeth and it goes FIZZZZ and tastes great. You can have some if
you like. :3

cats and its nice to know that they take such good care of you when you

Wonderful, you have perfect owners, you must be a good
Meowmie Purrs for the abscess, I had one a few weeks ago
and it finished up costing my Daughter &510 with 4 active visits
and one free check, and then my bottom plate re-lining. I have a very good
Daughter. Jean.P.

I can sympathise, Mark, I'm in exactly the same position. I started the
course of antibiotics yesterday, still no improvement. I'm going back to
the dentist on Tuesday, she'll decide then what is the best course of
action. Purrs that you soon feel better.
