I rescheduled my job interview from this morning to tomorrow. Last night I
was in hot-flash H***. I was so restless and unable to get comfortable I
even disturbed Persia. Long story short, I finally fell asleep after the
last look at the clock indicating 5 AM.
Then I had a nightmare that I was hired into a job on the spot but they
didn't tell me what the job was. I was hauled into a meeting where everyone
was given a folder of information, but my meeting agenda didn't match what
was being discussed. None of it made any sense! I kept trying to peek at
the agenda the woman next to me had but she was hiding it like I was trying
to cheat off a test. And this executive guy kept glaring at me like I was
stupid for not following. I woke up after 2 hours of sleep, feeling like
crud.
I called and asked if the interview could be rescheduled for tomorrow. He
didn't have a problem with it, thank goodness. No way could I have put my
best face forward after last night. I'm nervous enough about interviewing
without going in feeling like (or looking like) death warmed over.

Jill: pre-interview jitters are normal. The 'not ready for the test' type
dreams are also normal. I still get the occasional one myself, usually when
something in my life is stressing me out. They run along the theme of being
back in my old High School, with no idea what my scedule is, where my
english class is & knowing I've skipped class for the last 2 weeks & am
SCREWED!!!!
Good call, re-sceduling the interview. You want to show up feeling fresh.
The only other advice I'd give you is... Come to the interview from a
position of strength. Don't go in projecting the 'I need this job' energy.
Instead, walk in KNOWING you can be an asset to this company, the only real
questions are: Can they afford you? Are they worthy of your skill set?
Project confidence & cometence, then you can't loose. GOOD LUCK!!!

LOL I often have dreams about being back in High School but normally it's
that my old job was IN a school and I couldn't find the room (department)
where I worked. Either that or the job was located in a shopping mall and
same scenario - I couldn't find my office.
> Good call, re-sceduling the interview. You want to show up feeling fresh.
I thought so, and trust me, I didn't feel at all fresh when I woke up!
Lucky for me, they haven't actually advertised this job anywhere yet. The
guy I contacted had just realized he needed to hire some help but hadn't
gone beyond that stage. So I'm not (yet) 'competing' against anyone. :)

Thanks, Mathew. I appreciate the encouragement!

Just go to the food court and have a nice lunch! Then hit the dept stores &
shop, shop, SHOP. If someone complains, just tell them you were never given
a job description, so therefore you *thought* this was your job :)

Best wishes for a good nights rest and looking and feeling your interview
best tomorrow.
My last year of college I was taking 21 units a semester, had an hour one
way commute, and two small children at home. No class before 9am or after
2pm. I had recurring nightmares that I was standing in the center of
campus. Did not know what day of the week or what time it was. Did not
know what or where my next class was. And had no idea where I had parked
the car. They continued for a couple of years after I finished school.

Wow, yeah, good idea. I hope everything goes (went?) well, Jill!

I haven't had an actual nightmare since I was a kid, but I do have
mildly unpleasant dreams, also usually centering around college. I
always seem to be moving into a dorm room and having to deal with
crappy dorm life again. It's weird, 'cause I don't seem to be giving
up my house or anything, just leaving it temporarily to go live on
campus. I can't remember if I ever had to deal with what to do about
the cats in such a dream, though I know I've had those dreams since
I've had the cats. I haven't lived in a dorm room in over 8 years.
My other recurring dream is where I make a bad move when trimming
my beard (or intentionally trim it way too short, as though I'm
forgetting I want to keep it) and have to shave it all off. I don't
think I've had that one since I made a real-life mistake and had to go
down to goatee + stubble for a while. <G>

I think you did the right thing, Jill. Good luck tomorrow.
I still have anxiety dreams about not having gone to a class all
semester (usually high school, but sometimes college) and then suddenly
going and finding out that there's an exam/important assignment due that
day that I had no idea about. And high school was (mumble) years ago.
Anyway, knock 'em dead tomorrow!

Purrs, Jill, that the interview tomorrow goes off without a hitch (or maybe
with one - onto Jill's Perfect Job!)

I wouldn't have been able to sleep either. Great rumbly purrs that
things go well tomorrow.

Best of luck, Jill - hopefully, the next thing we hear from you will be that
you got the job you want ... not that you're posting from the hospital bed
where they put you when you collapsed from panic/stress. <G>
