Raised by animals, suckiled on canine mother's milk? Brought back to civilization later in life, like Lord Greystoke? ;-)

Tanada - 30 Mar 2005 07:27 GMT > Wow! I do not think I will be showing that to Oliver! :-) I know what you mean. When we were planing our enclosure, I found and showed those pictures to Rob, who's only comment was "No way in h*ll." I made sure not to show it to the masters, as I didn't want to breed discontent in the management.

KittyLady - 29 Mar 2005 22:01 GMT I guess that we can all conclude that that is a litter of spoiled kittens. Sassy says that the enclosure is the result of superior slave training. I told Sassy don't get any bright ideas.
Hopitus - 29 Mar 2005 23:07 GMT Such a cool cat enclosure wouldn't bee too expensive in s. FL,*if*, as some noted, one had the room & funds. Since moving here where coyotes abound, and having heard a lotta sad stories from the natives re their predatory nature, I don't think this chick is right on in her belief that screens will keep coyotes from eating her cats. I'm hardly the expert, however. I saw one coyote, once, face-to-face on a trail in Yosemite park. It looked just like a medium-sized d-pet except for the feral-looking eyes. It looked me up and down, turned tail, and slunk off into the bushes. OTOH I ran yelling back to my companions.....

I wonder if 6' fences keep out coyotes even if they don't have any additional mesh or wire above the wood? Where I live, coyotes aren't exactly common, but there have been many sitings over the last few years.

I have to take the whole thing down to clean and seal the deck this spring, but when I put it back up, I'm going to put some stuff in there.

I would imagine that a landlord would buy into the idea better if it were presented as an "enclosed balcony", as opposed to a "pet enclosure". :)

They would not bite. I'm still trying to figure out something. The playpen is an idea. *sigh*

The >playpen is an idea. *sigh* You mean that he won't allow you to make any big modifications? That's too bad. All your ideas sound like a lot of work though! We aren't all as lucky as Marina with her enclosed balcony.
This reminds me of an interesting room we had in the house I lived in when I was little. The room was a breezeway that connected the house and the garage. It had doors on all four sides. One door went to the kitchen, the opposite door went to the garage, the front door went to the driveway, and the back door went to the back yard. That would have been a good room for a cat, although the screen was only on two sides. During summer, we treated that room as though it were an indoor room. During the winter, since the walls were just screens, it was treated like it was the outside.

It's a corporate owned building. THey would be fine with anything on the inside up to the rail. But I don't consider that cat proof!!

I would imagine that a [quoted text clipped - 6 lines] > You mean that he won't allow you to make any big modifications? > That's too bad. I inquired at my apartment about putting up a glass storm door (front and back) so in nice weather I could open the inner door, raise the glass and let fresh air in via the screen. I was told sure, I could do that, but if I do it becomes part of the apartment and cannot be removed when I leave. So I nixed that idea.

Victor Martinez - 30 Mar 2005 14:39 GMT > I like your enclosure better, good looking and practical. *Blush* Thank you! I only wish we had a door going out of the house into the enclosure, so we could easily go out and seat with the kitties. Oh, they would *love* that!
