I'm very happy to announce that all three cats slept in bed with me last
night. Mere was sneaky. After Frank and Nikki had settled down by my
feet, she snuck up by my pillow and slipped under the covers. She slept
there all night. Nikki slept less than a metre away, on top of the
covers, and never realised the Little Annoying Hissy Thing (LAHT) was in
the same bed. Hehehe. She even sprawled on her back and purred, which
she would never have done if she's known the LAHT was so close.
Frank came up for pettin sessions in the evening and again in the
morning. He lays on the pillow next to mine, presses his forehead
against mine, and purrs loudly. In the morning, I raised my arm to reach
the good spots for proper scritching, and inadvertently lifted the
covers so that Frank saw Mere lying under them. He just continued his
purring and ignored Mere. Then when I got up, both Mere and Frank got
out of bed and ... touched noses! Not a hiss, not a growl. Yay!
Nikki still hisses at Mere in certain situations, if she comes too close
while she is playing or when Nikki is eating, but even Nikki seems to
have calmed down a lot already. Mere answers back like a proper little
hoolikitten and doesn't let Nikki stop her from doing what she wants. I
think Nikki will soon adopt her as an apprentice and teach her all the
bad tricks she (Nikki) knows.
The only thing worrying me is F&N's medication. They're not eating their
sourcream/medicine cocktails, and I've had to give them their medicines
with the syringe. But since they have to take the medicines twice a day
for the rest of their lives, I'd hoped to keep it a pleasant experience,
which it's not with the syringe. I just hope they'll start eating the
sourcream again soon. I think I'll have to confine Mere while I give
them the meds, because she is always so excited when I do anything in
the kitchen (subject of another post), and then she dances around me
while I try to give the seniors their meds, and it upsets the older
cats, and they won't eat.

Yay! Fabulous news :-) I'm sure they'll all be best buddies soon.
Sorry to hear about the meds difficulties. Maybe give Mere some sour
cream without meds and when Frank and Nikki see her eating it, they
will be jealous and eat theirs, even though it will have meds in it?

That might be the best way of doing it until she becomes fully
integrated with the family. You could also try giving her some plain
sour cream, so that they all get the "same" treatment. :)

Oh, I think that is good anyway. If you could just find a treat she really
likes, you put a little dish of it in there with her. Sounds like things are
coming along well!

All very good news. Frank and Nikki are a credit to their upbringing,
and I just know they'll turn out to be great uncle and aunt to the
baby. ;)

Awwww, it won't be long until Frank has another set of (not so) tiny ears to
lick! ;>

Hooray! I'm glad to know that integration is going so smoothly between the
big B&W people and the little Russian Blue person. =o) Very impressive,
since Mere has been in residence for less than a week! I think Meds for two
but sour cream for three is worth a try. Just be very careful about making
sure Mere doesn't get the medicated portions!

Sounds like everything is working out for the best all around, except for
the medicine sessions. We will purr and pray that F&N start taking their
medicines again with the sour cream.

Everyone needs time to get used to Mere as a household
fixture...they're coming around quite well actually (I remember
Nocturne's two-week boycott of the bedroom when it was "quarantined
for kitten contamination" ;) She would not share a ROOM with the
loathsome proto-cats...
Give Mere some sour cream of her own--minus meds.

So glad to hear that Mere is settling in! I'm glad that she finally
made it to the bedroom, because she sounds like she really wants to
sleep with her new meowmie. Mere seems to be a very clever girl, too,
who knows how to get what she wants. ;)

Concatulations, Marina. Sounds like it's going extremely well, all things
considered.

Glad that they were closer lastnight. Can'at wait to hear how things
progress.
I'm sorry about the meds difficulty though. I know that syringes are not
pleasant. I hope you have better luck with Mere confined. Maybe F&N will
think of it as their special bonding time with mom?

continuing. I think you're doing the right thing about confining Mere when
it's time for kitty meds. Keep us posted.
