Otis is comfy and Chester is not

I mentioned before, years ago, how awesome Otis is at cuddling.  He works
his way into any position without a single pressure point.  He's comfy and
purry and very good at sleeping with humans.  He feels weightless.

I don't know if its because Chester doesn't get much practice, but he
*terrible* to cuddle or snooze with.  He jams himself very close and settles
in, fully resting all of his magnificent weight right on a pressure point.
It can't possibly he comfortable for him to have his hip jammed into my
cheekbone or resting fully on my arm, but he stays there.  Lastnight, he
arrived on the bed, started kneading my hair (OUCH!) and settled in propped
up *on my head*.  Not around it, or touching it, but leaning with all his
weight onto it with his paws on top.  He pushed it over to one side and
pinned me there.

I had to kick him off and he took off in indignation.  He so rarely bestows
his affections this way and then, when he takes the leap to be emotionally
vulnerable, his mom throws him off her head :-)

Tryone is a cuddler, but he's a terrible cuddler too.  I feel badly because
I think he feels like a red-headed step-child.  I can't cuddle with him
because he uses his CLAWS every time.  He jumps on my lap, just about misses
and claws to hang on.  Yesterday he did it to my back when I was in a chair
on the computer.  I can't get him to not use his claws!  His sister, Chloe,
never uses her claws on me, so I cuddle with her all the time - she's my
baby.  <g>.

I don't know how to get Tryone to understand that human skin and kitty skin
are different things entirely.  I've pressed on his paws and said "no", I've
screamed in agony, and I still literally have to unpluck his claws from my
leg when he's hanging by one arm.  I'll cuddle if he would just stop!

Nothing like being woken up in the middle of the night to a claw stuck in
your neck.  Sigh.

Do you clip claws?

My Smokey's an ex-feral.  He can't change his instinct to sink in
claws, so we clip them every week until they're too blunt to do
damage.

I clipped my dog's nails once and clipped too far.  I haven't been able to
clip since.  The last time they were at the vet (3 months ago) the vet
clipped them, so I assume they need to be done again.  Thing is, why does
one cat claw and the other doesn't?   It's getting to the point where I
don't even want to pet him anymore because he immediately sticks his claws
in my leg.  It's not a mean gesture, he's just - slow.  LOL.  Seriously, if
a cat can be mentally challenged, this one is it.

So, did Otis get any leftover sausages last night or what?
I frankly can't picture him digging into pate'.....but never
say never w/cats, right?
BTW, what you described Otis doing on your head is
exactly the way Ms. Maluce sleeps on *my* head, but
we are way over doing anything about it....indignation
wins over comfort here, at least w/my comfort......

Otis got locked in the basement on Saturday night because of a very allergic
houseguest.  Poor guy.  I ended up doing organic chicken skewers marinated
in a greek lemon sauce that everyone seemed to really like.  Thanks for your
suggestion though - it was a close toss up!

Chester on the head is not something that I can see getting used to but who
knows?  We've come this far...

Well, my apologies to Otis, I misread and thought *he*
was the one sleeping on your head! Thank God the 19#
Rowdy shows no signs of wanting to copy Maluce, and
snoozes happily, always, at my feet.
Those chicken skewers sound really great. You knocked
yourself out for those guests; I hope they appreciated it
all. Otis has probably forgotten by now being in the cellar
during the festivities......

Sometimes, cats feel so pointy, and sometimes they feel so soft.  When
they stretch out and snuggle close, they melt into your body.  When
they perch on you, you feel like you're being trampled by wild horses.
Funny things, cats. :)

I would have liked to have seen Chester indignant.  I don't think I've
yet seen a cat indignant!

Oh, Tak, Betty must be an absolute sweetie if you've
never pissed her off.
Here is what brings on "indignant" at our place:
I go off to spend the night at son's & babysit....food bowl
left brim-full, water bowl ditto. I return to empty food bowl....entering
bedroom find combs and keys knocked
to floor from dressertop....
I gently sit on sofa, easing up in front of Rowdy, who is
sprawled on my usual sitting spot. He shoots up, glaring,
and exits stage right to upper back of sofa.
I oversleep, awake in a catless bed, and head into kitchen to find *all*
lower cabinet doors flapping open
and large Tupperware (closed) food storage container
knocked halfway out of its usual place.....
I would call each of the above "indignant", Tak-San.
If they ever evolve w/opposable thumbs, we're doomed.

Maybe you can recognize the indignant look better than I can.  I just
tried what I thought would be a sure fire way to see if Betty can
become indignant.

I woke Betty up, plopped her upside down on my lap with her back feet
in the air, held her little paws, and drummed her tummy with them,
singing:

Drum, drum, drum,
Drum your tum,
Kitties love to drum.
Their tums.

This made her simultaneously purry and confused. :)

Good Lord, she is a tolerant kitty. ;)

Stinky is like that, too.  He never gets indignant or annoyed.  The
worst he gets is a bit confused.  ;)

LOL! It's official, Betty has no dignity, so she can't be indignant. ;o)

They don't seem to know how much they hurt us sensitive hoomins it
seems! Their way of showing love. Touch touch touch!

BTW, I noticed when reading today from work on individual.net that
your posts don't show up on there. I saw others comment about it,
and I just thought I'd throw in my two cents on that. Wierd.
