Something's wrong with my Meowmie

Mischief - 25 Mar 2005 03:38 GMT
I need some feline opinions.....

Mama Kristi came home today and she was shaking.  She mumbled something
about being cold, but I didn't think it was cold at all

She got into bed and has been there all day.  Once I came in and she
had this thing in her mouth.  I recognized it as the thing that TED
sticks into your butt.  Why on earth did she have it in her mouth?

She's been mumbling things like, "achey" and "cold" and something
called "flew"

She's been in bed all day and sometimes won't even pay attention to ME.
What's wrong?  I've never seen her like this.

Let me know,

Mischief

It's time to play nurse kitty mischief. Be extra good and quiet. Snuggly
gently and purr. Flew is not fun.

I agree, Mischief. Your Meowmie needs your purr energy to feel better.
SNuggle up next to her and purr. Be in easy reach if she wants to stroke you
or scritch your ears, but try not to impede her movement.  Give her the
warmth of your body and let her feel the vibration as you purr for her. This
usually makes them feel guilty enough to get up and feed you, even if all
they do is stagger straight back to bed.

If you were a d*g, you'd have to go and barf some grass on your Meowmie to
make her feel better, but thankfully you aren't a d*g, you are a Superior
Species. You need to put your own needs aside for a little while (if you
don't, your own needs may not be attended to for a *longer* while) and go
and snuggle up to her as close as is comfortable for her and purr as hard as
you can. The occasional cheek lick is also permissible, but don't go
overboard.

You also need to get other kitties to purr for your meowmie (we are already)
and, as KittyFC said, you might get another Hoomin to call her TED if she
still seems the same way (or worse) tomorrow. No-one likes going to TED, but
they do make you feel better in the end.

Hope that helps,

Shmogg

She's sick, and needs a nurse cat. My Mom isn't feeling good either.

Felix, thinking for something that big, humans sure get sick easily

Oh dear, you need to do something.  Cuddle with her; she's what they call
"cold" onna human scale.  You will be nice an' warm and make her feel better
if you stay close by and make her feel warm and snuggly.

I am picturing the kitty pondering this, then trying to carry out the task.

If Mom has a can of Campbells on hand, maybe she could purr  while it is
being opened.   IMHO the pantry should always contain some cans of soup
and the refrigerator a few cans of 7-UP (or similar).  Best wishes for a
speedy recovery.  MLB

Yes, but it is more fun imagining the kitty serving the soup!

Yes indeed. Chicken broth has magical soothing properties--and
proven health benefits. I keep cans of it around, and when I get
congested I add fresh smashed and chopped garlic and a sprinkle
of cayenne pepper--and it clears the head better than any medicine.
Last winter I was caught out in an ice storm for hours, stranded in
my car due to a fender-bender on the ice, and when I got home
my husband gave me plain old Campbells chicken noodle and it
is beyond me to describe how delicious it was when I had been
cold and frustrated for hours. Good for the body, good for the
soul.

Indeed.  Comfort food.  My meomie likes Campbell's Tomato with a dash of
cayenne pepper and dried basil added.  It's too HOT for me.  But if your
meowmie's sick tummy can handle it, a grilled cheese sandwich to go with.
You might get a bite of that :)  Cheese!  Yummy!

But eat the chicken pieces out first, as they are not healthy for hoomins.

AWWWW Boyfriend.  I am a bad boy, but I have fun with it.  The fat wench
not only doesn't mind, she writes my stories and behavior down.  I
usually don't touch people food, but Tanada not only begs for it, but
will steal it whenever she can.  You should see her on tacos.  Man she
was gassy.

It takes all kinds to cats to make up the world.  We're just at
extremes.  You're a good boycat, I'm not.  Personally, I think that I
have the hoomins trained pretty well here.  They let me sleep where I
want.  I eat what I want and when I want.  They fixed what isn't broke,
but then I don't need to be chasing the womens anyway.

I do like hoomin womens though.  They are soft, gentle, easily
manipulated, and always make a big fuss over me.  TED recently took in a
womens partner.  I like her.  The other cats don't care one way or the
other.

I bet I can show you a whole new way of life, that will make your eyes
stand out and your fur rise.  You're invited to join us on the Mouser
for her annual voyage this summer.  We'll make a cat out of you, yet.

Meowmie must be tough, because she went to work today, or at least to
the place where she ends up smelling like all sorts of strange animals.

She also brought back a few bottles of pills that's she's taking.  I
don't see how hoomins can take icky pills!

Hoomins, I'll never understand......

Mischief

PS.  I was in San Luis Obispo last weekend for a swim meet and it was
COOOOOLLDDD!!!  I thought I had escaped being sick, but after spending
an entire day feeling all icky, achey and shivering and a very painful
sore throat, I guess that I hadn't.

I tried to call in sick this morning, but Jen my supervisor said, "It's
Easter weekend and we fired Mike, so we need you."  They fired Mike?
You mean that employee that I hate has finally got his comeuppence??

If I wasn't so sick I would have jumped for joy.  But I was still
feeling icky, but on the other hand they needed me, so I dragged my
butt into work.  Then went to the doctor afterwards and got some
Amoxicillan.  Doctor said I have strep throat.  Ick......Don't have a
temperature anymore, though.

I want to take tomorrow off, but since Mike is gone, they will need me
more than ever.  They already will be slightly short tomorrow.

Thanks for all your purrs

Nah, I don't mean that......much

the thing that kept Mike going was that he knew his stuff and had the

Ah well, one of these day it should click.  If not, maybe a smack

Mischief, your mommy has a URI, like you've probably had.  You know,
where you sneeze stuff and don't feel like eating much.  It doesn't
feel good, but you always get over it eventually.  Just give your
meowmie plenty of warm cuddles and purrs.
