A Vent from Snowball

LO Catfolks

I'm a quiet sort of fellow normally but something serious has happened
and I need to express myself (vent, I think you call it) about it.

It's my 2nd Purrthday today: the official end of my kittenhood.
Obviously I was expecting a considerable fuss and quantity of presents
on such a special day. Instead, I got a - wait for it! - :

'D'-PET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MH (My Hoomin) has explained to me that Raki the Japanese Shiba Inu is a
'ress-kew' d-g that has come to stay with us for a trial period to see
if we all like each other 'cos he needs a forever home as he didn't take
to showing and wasn't quite right for breeding - whatever that is.

So yesterday this smelly crate arrived with MH in the house and Bandit
and I had a day to get acclimatised to it, when the contents weren't in
the Out, and today we were all "introduced".  Luckily it grew up with
cats so has learned the proper awe and respect for us superior beings,
and is already well aware of its lowly status, so we only have to glare
and hiss a bit and it keeps its distance, although we've now all touched
noses without any trouble.  But I'm not at all sure I want it to take up
space in MY house or eat MY food...........

I have to go now as there's the smell of Fresh Fish - not before time -
and I must supervise its correct preparation.

Yours aggrievedly

Snowball

(Humble Hoomin PS: With the loss of dear Pericles I was greatly missing
a companion for my frequent walks around the village and environs, and
didn't feel that a new feline companion was appropriate. So a rescue of
this most Siamese-like d-breed on a flexible trial basis, with the cats
agreed as judges, seemed Serendipitous. He's an intact (for the present)
nearly 4-year-old male, never dominant and friendly to most life forms,
eager to please, well housetrained and quiet. At time of writing he's
lying down beside my chair with both cats just a few feet away busy
ignoring him, so I have high hopes of a successful integration.

Purrs for those in need, especially for Marina - I hope Mere's
introduction goes as smoothly.

Gordon and the TT (possibly soon a Trio again)

Wow. This is much worse than what I'm going to inflict on my two. ;o) I
hope Snowball got at least some nice treats to appease him on his
birthday (Hoppy Purrday, Snowball!). It sounds like the d-pet is fitting
in smoothly, though. We wish you all a happy co-existence and nice
walkies (and thank you for the purrs. I'm leaving soon to fetch her. I'm
so nervous, I'm nauseous).

Dear Snowball,

Many of the cats I had growing up found a D-thing to be a superior foot
warmer and cusion, as well as ear cleaner. Have some patience and  you may
find it is an even better slave than the human :)

Shiba Inus are Gorgeous D*gs...I saw one on TV during the Crufts D-show.  I
was intrigued.

Did you see that they also have Bengal kittens?  The link is at the bottom
of the page and they are beauteous kitties.

I saw those gorgeous cats...in addition there is a FAQ for the Shiba Inus
that answer the question if these d*gs get along well with children and
cats.  Its an affirmative :)

Awwww, poor Snowball!  What a present!!!  Hopefully the d*g-thing will pay
daily homage to your superior self and all will proceed smoothly.

Gordon, I'm glad you've found a companion for your walks - walking alone
must have been rough after Pericles.  Sammy is still in mourning with you -
she comes and touches noses with the picture of Pericles (my wallpaper) on
my monitor every time I get on my computer.

Hugs,

Aww, Snowball.  Happy Purrday to you.  Sorry you're not getting the
proper homage.  But I understand that not all D-things are bad, and
can even be useful sometimes.
In the meantime, comforting purrs and headbutts.

Good luck, Gordon!  The fact that they're all able to lie down and ignore
each other makes the situation sound very promising, indeed.

Here's hoping for a successful integration into your household.  And
Snowball, it won't be so bad.  Now you've got somebody else to blame "it" on
(whatever misdeed occurs)

LO Catslaves

Many Fangs for all your Purrthday wishes and the advice re. the D-Thing.
It's all going pretty well: apart from lovely COD for my special dinner
I've
gotten to sample d-thing's food as well. Twice. (Three times in fact but
nobody noticed the third). Apparently it grew up in company with some
Maine Coon kittens and learned the power of The Claw, so I only have to
approach it in my usual assertive manner and touch nosies and it shies
away & retreats to its proper place of subservience in a corner.

Today Bandit had a check-up to see how his sore gums have healed after
he lost some teef and I went along to keep him company 'cos he really
hates the crate and the journey. It must've worked 'cos he didn't wet
his crate this time. Oh, an' the gums are great. I got to meet the nice
catslave TED as well: he and his staff were suitably admiring of me (of
course) and reckoned I'm in great shape, tho' a bit of teef cleaning may
be in order in the summer. I shan't mind 'cos I'm a brave grown-up boy
now.

MH (My Hoomin) sez he'll upload a pikky of the d-thing once it's brave
enough to park itself near me or Bandit, but I think it'll be a while
yet, tho' when we got back from TED it seemed pleased to see us all and
when we settled down it made its way onto MH's lap for a bit (first
time). Me an Bandit were happy enuff in our comfy chairs in the Sun.
We've all shared the bedroom for 2 nites now with no trubble and the
d-crate isn't needed any more as MH is happy that we won't kill the
newbie too much.

More anon

Purrs to all, hoping little Mere will let Frank be nice to her soon
(bound to happen once the insecurity's worn off). PS MH sez he drove
past the village
of Mere when collecting Raki the d-thing & thought of them then).

What a nice update, Snowball. Of course you are a big and brave boy, and
the teef cleaning shan't bother you one bit. Very good of you to ride
along with Bandit and help him keep his cool. Good to hear that you are
getting along so well with the d-thing. It helps when they show proper
respect, doesn't it.

Dear Snowball,

HOW AWFUL!! But speaking as an owner of a Ress-kew D-pet, I can say that
if you establish that you are the ultimate God, and he is just scum who
is designed to be subservient, then you will be fine. Mine (stoopid mutt
that it is) has learned that if I walk through a door, she gets out of
the way, and if I want her dinner, I'll jolly well have it.

Just show it yor the boss and batter it with yor klaws.

His Royal Feline Lordship Tiger, who put the ress-kew D-pet in her place
more than once.
