The World's longest Cat Pregnancy is Still On

Ok, she STILL hasn't had them.  Mike checked her out with stethoscope
and can still hear a bunch of purrs.  He also says that Sonya's nipples
are full and starting to produce milk.  She is starting to produce a
sort of line indentation down the center of her tummy.  Does that mean
anything?

The family isn't happy, but they agree with me that if she hasn't had
them by Friday, we won't be leaving on vacation until she does have them
safely.  I've also asked Rob to make another TED appointment if she
hasn't produced them by morning.

Penny spoiled us.  We didn't have an idea how far along she was, and her
fur was so long one couldn't really tell that she was pregnant.  So when
she popped them out, it was a pleasant surprise.  I could never be a cat
breeder, too much stress.

I grossed Mandy out by telling her to do the hockey cheer as well as the
one I was doing for her.  She says that I'm really sick.

Oh, you make me laugh, Pam.  Sonya will have her kittens exactly at the time
they are meant to be born and not before.
Been there, done that, with dogs.
I have agonised about puppies due to be born, I have stayed up all night.
They will come when they come.
Purrs for you and Sonya that the babies will be here soon.
If they aren't I don't think we all can stand it!

The kittens are purring inside of her?!  Damn, maybe they don't want to come

Purring seems to happen while kitties breathe in and out, so if
they're purring inside of her, it probably sounds more like gurgling.

Yeah.  She still hasn't had them.  I keep hoping, but she is not laying
back and popping them out.  Please, PLEASE purr for her to have them and
put me out of my misery.

Aaaw, come on now, Sonya! Poop-those-kittens purrs times three coming
over. Maybe Mere's kitten purrs will convince her.

I'm here and have been waiting for the big news as well.

If her milk is starting to come in she *should* have them within two days,
all being well.

I have been breeding cats now for nearly 20 years and I still sit up with my
expectant Mum's (or take them to bed with me) when I know that the birth is
imminent, of course I have the advantage of knowing when they were mated.

Good luck to Sonya and her kitties.

I Googled "cat gestation".  Normal time is 61 to 69 days depending on size
of breed.  Variations to 71 days have been noted.  Do you have any idea
when she became pregnant?  Time always seems longer when waiting.   MLB

It didn't just seem long, it *was* long!

P.S. If we're still taking bets, I think that four kittens will be
born around April 7th.

If so, that should be the longest recorded gestation period!!

We got her on January 29th.  3 days left in January, 28 in February, and
22 (so far) in March.  25+28= 53  And we were told that she was due at
any time when we got her in January (they lied). So she's at least 53
days along, and I'd guess at least 63 days.  So maybe soon.

IME, it's hard to tell if a cat is pregnant before about halfway
through pregnancy, so HOW did they know she was pregnant 10 days or
less into gestation?

It was a cunning plan so that you'd fall in love with her and adopt her.
;o) (It worked, LOL!)

Paws crossed for a successful delivery. :o)

I say April 1. You know, April Fool's Day. She has fooled us all into

Why have kids if you can't gross them out?

TED was the one who said any time up to two weeks, then later up to
three weeks.  The shelter was the one who said any time.  Sigh.  I just
wish she'd have them and get it over with.

There is a simple solution to your dilemma. Sit down with this kitty and
tell her that under no circumstances should she have the kittens tonight
as it would be entirely inconvenient for you and completely disrupt your
plans and schedule.

LOL, if THAT lecture doesn't inspire her to have about 18 kittens on the
spot, nothing will. ;o)

When I was in high school my family had a cat that delivered 18 kittens at
once. Only 11 of them were alive when born, and only 9 of the 11 survived.
It was a mess....

Typical! I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for Sonya to have
her kittens and now when I have got  a week off and no PC access, she
will have them!

Purrs that when I get back, Sonya has a fine litter of kittens and
there are photos

Breeders don't have to go through this.  63 days is pretty standard.  Some
queens and some breeds will go a couple of days longer.

I'm not questioning Sonya's condition.  But a bit surprised the place you
got her was even aware of it that early on.

I think they produce milk 24-48 hours before birthing IIRC.
