WOW! They *DO* look alike! That could be Sammy's twin brother!!! Mandy is
adorable, too (it's hard to upstage a cat, but she manages!!!). Thanks for
posting that. How old is QC, do you know (I need to know what to look
forward to ;>)?

They guesstimated QC's age at about a year to a year and a half when he
first adopted us in the summer of 1998. So he'd be about 6 - 7 years
old now. He grew until he was about 2-3 years old, and I'm told that
Maine Coons can/do grow for up to four years. He's just a big boned baby.
One thing we've noticed, as QC has aged, he has also mellowed. About
the only thing that gets him worked up any more is Speedy, Mandy's
d-thing, chasing Pine Cone or Huey. He's also protective of Calvin and
won't let the other cats bully Calvin.

Also, for comparison, I am 5' 6" and weigh 135 lb. Sammy looks fatter here
than she really is because she's sort of scrunched up, but her ribs can
clearly be felt and she's all muscle!

Sorry to digress, but I saw subject, and I turned around and looked for
Ping, and there he is, on the mini-tower by the window, snoozing, and I
thought "Ping has not been catnipped, he's right here..."
...and then the big DUH hit me upside the forehead ;)
BTW, Amanda and QC are *both* adorable!

This is interesting to me. Brenna can easily stretch out to roughly 3
feet long (she moves if I try to measure, though). However, she only
averages about 8.25 pounds. She can also roll into a ball about 10
inches in diameter.
She gave me a real "awwww" moment this weekend. She was taking a nap on
my lap and started snoring. I noticed that her chin was resting on her
shoulderblade (how do they do that?!?), so I gently shifted her head
into a more "normal" position. She was so deeply asleep that her neck
was all floppy and she didn't even register that I had moved her. This
is a cat that normally leaps from my lap from a solid sleep if I rustle
the pages of my book too loudly!
