A story from history:

When we got Noxy, my family was a bit bothered since they don't
believe in keeping animals in the home.  At the time I thought they
were being jerks, but looking back, a lot of their questions were good
to consider before getting a pet:

--What will you do when you move?  (Take her with us.  Duh.)
--Do you have money to spay her?  (Of course.)
--Who will watch her when you go away for a few nights?

Now to that, I'd said we would get a  cat sitter, but when we actually
went on the trip, my mom said not to be stupid, SHE would cat sit Nox
in her home for free.

Heh heh heh.  My dad was 57 and had never had a house pet in his life.
That week he had Nox curled around his head, grooming him in his
sleep.  I warned my folks that Nocturne would sleep with them--and
would cry if they shut her out of the bedroom.

My family were mystified by the litter box.  I had to give them
instructions.  They were surprised how easy it was to sift and remove
treasures.  At the time Nox had a bad habit of exhuming litter, and my
mom (the neat freak) was vacuuming around the litter box like 4 times
a day.

By the end of the week, my mom was stuffing nox with 15 (!!) cat
treats a day (five at each human mealtime).  All the plants were moved
from the windowledges so Nox could have free rein to sit up there and
watch outside.

My mom told me she was surprised at just how clean and quiet Nocturne
was.  She also said "Nocturne talks a lot, oh Noxy, we don't know what
you're saying...no..."  ( I knew exactly what she was saying...an
expression of curiousity at the time...)  Apparently Nocturne's worst
crime was "being hot."  "I don't know how you can stand having a hot
furry cat flopped against you at night." ;)

Did they ever get a cat of their own?  MLB

No.  They still don't allow animals in their house and my mom's best
friend is severely allergic (to the point of breathing distress and
hospitalization) so she couldn't visit while Noxy was over.

My parents have, however, started spoiling the barn cats with gooshy
food.

Your folks sound neat. Natural-born cat people, but it took
you to show them!

Long long ago, my friend Nancy's father had to take care of Nancy's cat
for a while. He was definitely not a cat person. He mostly-jokingly
referred to him as "pain in the a** cat." We have several pix of him
with the cat next to him on the chair, on his shoulder, etc. Ha! Spot
converted him just like he had converted us. ;o)

Hey, a hot cat on a cold night is a good thing to have around.
