I used to have a handle on life...but it broke off.
"jmcquown" <jmcquown@bellsouth.net> had some very interesting things
to say about Blanket Purrs:
>Once again I'm posting blanket, multi-purpose purrs (and birdie chirps) for
>everyone who needs them, feline, dog, human, et.al. I try to respond to
>individual requests but there are so many of them... please know I send
>purrs even if you don't get an individual reply to a request.
Speaking of birds, does Peaches ever decide to perch on you? Lately,
my head has become Ava's favorite perch (she seems to even like my
head better than she likes computer monitors!).

I think Ava is adorable! Peaches is not hand-tamed, much as I had hoped to
do that. When I got her I was working (!) long hours and didn't have enough
time each day to spend with her to get her acclaimated to being handled. So
I don't attempt to let her out of the cage anymore. She just has *lots* of
toys and in-cage attention.

I tend to feel bad about keeping Ava caged all the time, so even when
we're both working and busy, we do try to give her some out-of-cage
time.

I feel bad about it too, but then again there is the lovebird-cat thing (I
still can't remember the name of the disease cats can pass to lovebirds by
merely touching them). And Persia ignores Peaches in her cage but if she
was flying around, trust me... instant toy! If I could be sure she'd perch
on my shoulder or somewhere nearby, I'd lock Persia up in the bedroom and
let her out. Last time I let her out she got behind the TV stand and I
couldn't reach her. She finally waddled out but I had a heck of a time
chasing her down. It's less stressful for both of us that she stays in the
cage. She got a nice slice of Gala apple tonight (she loves apple!). She
ate it then dinged all the bell-toys in her cage and chirped loudly as a
thank-you :)
