Sonya is still pregnant. I just got off the phone with Pam (and Rob).
Everyone is doing fine. What happened is that she was going to take Jim
to work and he said Sonya was panting and purring at the same time. Pam
posted she was in labor before she checked on her herself. Apparently
she was purring, just not in labor. After the Holly situation she
didn't want people thinking she was acting like "Holly" and I think with
some of the conversation about Sonya not being pregnant, although the
vet has confirmed that she's pregnant, Pam is reluctant to post until
Sonya has had her kittens. Then there is of course RL which is busy at
the moment so she really hasn't had a chance to come online.
She says Sonya is huge and very uncomfortable. I told her Sonya was
holding them in because she was afraid of being booted out after the
kittens are born but Pam says they're adopting Sonya. Mandy was going to
go into the bedroom and assure Sonya that she was staying in hopes that
might get her to relax and poop the kittens.
I'm leaving town in about 2 hours so I figure Sonya will have the
kittens this weekend while I'm gone (since I've checked daily to see if
the kittens are here yet, Murphy's Law in effect). Purrs coming to
everyone who needs them. See you all on Monday.

Julie,
Thank you so much for calling Pam and letting us know that everything is
basically alright. If I remember correctly, Sonya is off to the Vet on
Friday to make sure there are no complications.
Waiting and waiting and waiting,

Thank God for large favors.
As long as everyone is OK, human and four-footed fuzzy people alike,
that's all that matters.
My one remaining concern is that Sonya might end up needing the vet to
assist with the birth. I'm surprised at the person(s) at the shelter who
originally predicted that Sonya was sure to give birth any minute, back in
early February, or was it late January? How did they misjudge her
condition that much? Or was she huge even then, I wonder? (Boy, if she
appeared ready to give birth five weeks or so ago, she must be
Garfield-esque in size now, poor kitty.)
Here's to a healthy litter of kittens, ASAP so Sonya can get comfortable.
And so Pam can stop pacing a hole in the floor ;o) and everyone knows how
many homes need to be lined up for the new furballs.

Great news! Although most of us have known that for a while whether Pam
admitted it or not...
Do get pushing though, Sonya...

Thanks so much for setting our minds at ease. If we had never heard of
something we, of course, would not worry.. But -- Sonya is now part of
our lives too so what do worriers do? Worry. I hope she has an
uncomplicated delivery.
Best wishes to all. MLB

First of all I can't believe Sonya is STILL pregnant!! Man, the poor
thing must be so uncomfortable.
But at least I'm glad that Pam and everyone is okay.
I'm also heading out to San Luis Obispo for a swim meet tomorrow and
won't be back until Saturday night, so I hope things will turn out
alright.

anything like that. Please keep us updated on Sonya. So glad to hear you
are adopting her. Purrs coming for kittens to make an appearance soon.

Thanks for the update, Julie! Pam, good luck! Sonya, MEGA good luck! (I
think your foster Meowmie would LOVE it if you were to give birth nice and
natural in the night....) I have a feeling Sonya may need some help with
giving birth, but I hope I'm wrong.

Oh I'm so glad! I'm glad the hoomins aRE FINE - THAT WAS MY BIGGEST

Either that, or maybe they were wondering if Sonya was having a false
pregnancy. I know that's something that can happen to d-pets. I'm guessing
that felines can have symptoms like that, too (can't they?).
But I don't think it crossed anyone's mind that another Holly-like
situation was in the works. So I would hope Pam's not worried on that
score.
Still hoping that Sonya's little ones arrive safely, and soon,

Yes, I compared her to TuTu who always looks like she is carrying a couple

see it never happens again. Purrs for a safe delivery for Sonya. MLB

Pam and Rob and family, we love you guys and pray that that ordinary fun
fill exhausting days continue for a very long time.
Any of us that know you, know that the rescue group that placed Sonya with
you, may have overstated how far along she was in her pregnancy just a tad.
Sonya will poop out those kittens at just the proper time. Thing is, only
Sonya will know when that is.

Thak you Julie! I was genuinely concerned and did not suspect a "holly"

about Rob because he had some problems. Last summer.
I'm glad Sonya's found her Onetruehome. Purrs that the kittens are born

Whew!! This is a relief!! Our focus was changing from concern for
Sonya to worry about the family and it's great to know they're OK.
Poor Pam, she must really be tied up with RL - we know her well enough
to know she wouldn't pull a "Holly" on us; Pam can be a prankster at
times but she'd never do *that*, knowing we'd be hurt. Bottom line,
many thanks for getting the good word to us, purrs for Sonya, and
congrats to the family on their latest addition. (I'd bet that at
least one kitten would be so cute it would find a home there too.)

Thank you so much for the update, Julie! That's what I thought at
first. I'm 100% sure that Sonya is really pregnant, but when Pam said
that Sonya was in "stage one" of labor according to a "home vet book",
I didn't think that Sonya was really in labor yet. I mean, if you
need a book to tell you that a cat is in labor, she probably isn't. :)
Betty and I are sending lots and lots of purrs and kitten lovin
headbutts to Sonya and Pam and kittens and family.

Of course we wouldn't think Pam is pulling a "Holly". I think some people
missed some of the threads and didn't catch the part where the vet and
confirmed the pregnancy.

My mother claims 72 hours of labor, six weeks later than she thought
I'd arrive (my grandfather [her father] is of the opinion her math was
off. Since no one on that side of the family is any good at math, he
might be right (grin)).

Yeah, I was pretty much committed at that point. The one thing I do
remember is that after the first 24 hours the "don't eat while in
labor" guideline went out the window (I baked a batch of chocolate
cupcakes and ate about half of them... when we got home from one of
our trips to the hospital, there were kitty toothprints in the rest).
After 72 hours my Mom (a Labor and Delivery nurse) took me to her house
and poured me a bottle of wine. Her theory was that the alcohol would:
a) stop the labor, b) relax me and speed it up, or c) put me to sleep.
As it turned out, it was both b) and c). I fell asleep and when I woke
up things were starting to progress.

Someone who managed to scam the group but good; convinced everyone she was a
cat-lover who had a tumor... then that she was in the hospital having
surgery and her "husband" was posting for her. Had people sending her
cards, etc. Turned out she (and "he") was posting from her office email
address and the address to send the cards to was also her office address.
She had us going for a LONG time. When she was "found out", she got all
indignant, but she was still posting from her office email address. Then
she pretended someone ELSE was pretending to be her, but the "real" Holly
was still posting from the same office email address.

Thanks Fil,
I was spoiled. My longest labor, the one where the bratling decided to
deliver herself while everyone else in the delivery room was busy
getting ready for her, was five hours. She was also a day early. Mike
was my shortest labor, 45 minutes and two weeks early, and Jason was
four hours and 2-3 weeks early.

Glad they are all allright, but sheesh, we've known Pam like forever. If she
