Timmy's story

Timmy (Rosemary's new baby) was one of a litter of six kittens, he was the
smallest of the litter at just under 50g - he had to be resuscitated at
birth and for the first few days of his life I feed him with an eye dropper.

At about 4 weeks I noticed that there was something not quite right with
him, by this time he was getting out of the sleeping box and starting to
move around the floor, he moved sideways and seemed to have a bent spine, he
was in no pain, was eating solid food, using the litter tray and keeping up
with his siblings in their play.

I had sold him at birth but decided as his future was uncertain to ask the
people to come and chose another kitten. I took him off to the vet at 8
weeks, there it was discovered that the rib cage on one side was concaved,
probably due to the fact that he was *squashed* between two of his siblings
in the womb, not giving him the room to grow. It was decided to wait until
he was big enough to desex and do an xray at the same time to check that
everything was in the right place. He was a very happy kitty and has a great
purrsonality, everybody who saw him loved him.

Two weeks ago he made the weight for desexing (two weeks behind his litter
mates) I held my breath when going to pick him up waiting for the xray
report - good news - everything was in it's right place, the spine is
straight and he will have no problems with internal organs and his rib cage,
he has straightened up a lot since his first visit to the vet. Now I had to
set about finding him a very special home.

My first thought was Rosemary (Bev's niece) as she had Simba, Timmy's litter
brother and had ordered a second kitten from the next litter - I thought it
would be nice for Timmy to be with his brother, luckily Rosemary thought the
same.

You may have read Rosemary's post re: Simba and Timmy so you will know that
all is well and working out for kitties and humans alike!

Burmese are like potato chips, you can't just have one.

Wow. That's wonderful that Timmy "filled out" as it were.

Thank you for posting this Lois.   It is a lovely warm story about a
kitten with a king-sized personality.   Rosemary's granddaughter
Samantha can't wait to get home from school each day to play with Simba
and Timmy :)

Cats aren't clean, they're just covered with cat spit.

Great to see you put Timmy's story on.
Timmy is fine no problems from yesterday's commotion  - thank
goodness.
I do worry about all the scrapping thats going on, Simba is such a big
boisterous kitten.
Timmy does initiate a lot of it so I suppose it can't be doing him too
much harm.
Samantha plays with them a lot. They seem to have a big sleep in the
middle of the day & wake up when she comes home from school.
They climb all over the old cat Smudge ( 19 years old) & tried to do
the same to Fluffy( 5 years old) but got a swipe so they steer clear of
him.

Rosemary, don't worry to much about Timmy play fighting with Simba, he
doesn't know he is any different from him, he gives as good as he gets and
it is so nice to see him doing the normal kitten things, he might be small
but he has a big heart.
Glad he suffered no ill effects from yesterdays drama.

Welcome to rpca, Rosemary. Timmy's story is very sweet. My Frank and
Nikki still have mock fights most every day, though they're 16 and 17
years old. Nikki is about half the size of Frank, but she still
initiates a lot of the fighting. The fights often end when I hear Frank
squealing in pain, and I have to go rescue him. I don't think you have
to worry, though Timmy is so much smaller. The small ones are often the
feisty ones, and the big ones often seem to be very gentle with smaller
ones. :o)

When our two fight sometimes you hear squeals of pain and go to break
the fight up. Like the other day, Redunzel had really got Sarrasine
down and Sarrasine was squealing like crazy so I stepped in and pulled
Redunzel back, Sarrasine took full advantage of this to attack
Redunzel!! She does this a lot, alas because she is a criminal genius,
she has worked out we dare not ignore her squealing in case she really
has got hurt so she squeals and we hold Redunzel back while she gives
her a good wallop!

I must admit, I suspect Frank of similar plotting sometimes. ;o) I mean,
he's twice the size of Nikki, fer Pete's sake.
