I have these seeds of cat grass that my cats just love! I try to keep it
growing all year. Cats go crazy for this stuff and I think it helps with
digestion, etc.
I have a bag of seeds called "Cosmic Kittyherbs" and it contains:
Barley, Oats and Wheat plus "other crop seed"

I just planted a new batch of grass, the cats love it! I call them my
little laws mowers... :)

I have a regular little kitty grass farm growing on top of my
entertainment center. I have several pots of grass going at any one
time so I always have a fresh supply for Oliver. I get mine at
http://www.bluegrassbuddy.com/store/products.asp We were buying already
grown grass at the pet store but when I brought out the first pot of
this Oliver started trilling. He is crazy for this stuff. It contains
wheats, oats, and rye and the seeds are not chemically treated. I am
thinking of starting a bigger pot out on the balcony when the weather
gets warmer and seeing if I can get it to keep growing for longer than a
few days. Oliver mows the little pots down so fast it dies out after a
couple of days.

That is great! The seeds take about 4-5 days to even sprout and my cats
chow down when the grass is about 1" long. They both go mad for it and I
think it really helps since my cats are indoor only types.
I was thinking of making a whole bed of this grass when the temps get a
little warmer.
I did that one year and Casey just likes to lie down on it. Then chomp away
until it's gone.

You've given me an idea. I think I'll plant the outside grass in an
unused extra litter box we have. Then if Oliver would like to roll in
it or sit on it the planter will be big enough. Oliver is an indoor
only kitty, too, but loves to go out on our balcony every day and "take
the air." ;-)

that is a great idea! I planted on a plant bed about 3' long and it grew up
like a little grass bed. Case was loving that and I thought it was funny
how the first thing he did was just lie down and roll his body around. He
loved it.

I
I've wanted to try this for a while. I swear I am going to do it this year.

I can't let my guys have the pot because they dig up the dirt all over
the rugs and chew the pots. I trim the grass and give it to them,
just the grass. They eat it right up. I'm going to grow a big flat
of it on my balcony come spring.

I have a large 8" ceramic pot I planted some grass in and after it got
large enough, I moved it to a table in front of their window for the
cats. They ate it down over the next month and then started to lie in
the pot (with thier larger bodies slopping over the sides) until the
remaining grass died. I need to start some more. But I was thinking
about putting a few ornamental rocks in the pot to keep them from
lying on it. Maybe I can grow some more in an unused litter pan for
them to lie in.

Yup. I bought some a little while ago to distract Oscar from the other plants
she was eating.
She likes it, but not enough to lose interest in the plants she shouldn't be
eating.
