Bandit's Second Burn Now

I need you guys' help.  The vet told me to watch the burn closely for any
change of color or appearance and if there is I was to take her in right
away so they could do surgery.  Well, the burn looks different than it did,
but it might be that it's getting better.  For those who can take the
grossness, please take a look and let me know what you think.

Here are the pictures I took right after I found the second burn:

Here are the pictures I took just a minute ago after I washed the burn
(which is why her hair is wet) and right before I put the Silvadine on it:

To me, having had severe burns myself, that looks like it is starting to
get better. But to be honest, if you have *ANY* concerns, take her to
the vet and put your mind at rest.

Caution is the better part of valour. It looks like nothing is wrong and
it's starting to repair, but get the vet to check her out if you're even
remotely concerned.

{{{Gentle calming hugs}}} and a big scritch for Bandit.

She has an appointment tomorrow at 4:45PM, so I'm going to wait until then
unless someone thinks that it's *not* looking better.  I'll let you guys
know as soon as I know something.  I'm *really* hoping she doesn't have to
go through a *THIRD* surgery within one month - she's *15 YEARS OLD*!!!

Hugs,

You accidentally posted two links to the same set of pictures, instead
of links to two different sets of pictures.

Yep. Comparison would help, as well as a closer look. There appear to be
yellowish and reddish areas. The latter clearly is burned, but are the
other areas normal-looking skin, scab, or what?  I just can't tell
enough about the texture.

Sorry, I posted the same link twice, here's the corrected one.

Looks like it's getting better to me but I have not had experience with
burns on furkids.

I think it's looking a lot better - a lot less red and sore than in the
earlier pictures.

I think it looks better.  The redness/angriness from the burn has gone down.
But, as always, when concerned, call or go to the vets.  Since you have an
appointment for tomorrow, I think you are fine.

I'm no expert but it looks better rather than worse - not as red or
inflamed, and smoother.

Hmm. No, I actually think maybe it looks better.

It does look better to my untrained eye.

I would agree it looks better, although I could judge better with a
human burn. The healing of cat skin is sufficiently different that I'd
be guessing, but the yellow tinge seems considerably less. Just a
thought -- was any Betadine used as well as Silvadine?  The decreasing
yellowish tinge reminds me of Betadine wearing off.

No, Silvadine is the only thing being used.  I think the vet thinks it's
infection.  I went to the vet (by myself - I have an appointment with Bandit
tomorrow at 4:45PM) to pick up some more Silvadine and I showed the vet the
pictures online.  She said that the burn looks like it is contracting, which
is good since, if she requires surgery, there will be less skin that has to
come off.  But, she is still thinking there will have to be *some* surgery
by the look of the pictures (with the caveat that, of course, she can't
diagnose from just the pictures and she will tell me for sure whether or not
she needs surgery after she sees her tomorrow).

On the one hand, I'm very worried about putting a 15-year-old cat through a
*THIRD* bout of anesthesia in less than a month.  But, she did come through
the two bouts of recent anesthesia well.  She is very healthy despite her
age (she has been kept indoors and fed premium food her whole life, and has
never before had so much as a runny nose).  So, on the other hand, with the
stomach wound looking very good and almost healed, it might be good to go
ahead and do the surgery which may be less painful and heal faster in the
long run.

I don't know.  I'm just so upset about this whole thing that I have stressed
myself into a cold and since stripping down the whole 5 bedroom house Sunday
doing "anxiety cleaning", I've caused my back to flare up again
(degenerative disk disease).  I worked half days last week and worked the
other half of the days from home so I could care for her.  I also took
Monday off to take her to the vet after finding the second burn Sunday,
worked Tuesday (DH was home to take care of her) and then took today,
tomorrow, and Friday as vacation days (but still have to work from home) so
I could take care of her.  So job worries are now added on top of everything
else.

*SIGH*

It looks like it's getting better, but I'm not an expert.  My five
furbabies however are expert at purrs and they continue to send purrs
for Bandit to feel better really soon.

I'm not an expert, but it does look less red. Purrs that she heals asap.
