Yesterday Harri Roadcat definitely earned her keep.

It was a rough day for us - basically a 27 hour day with just one short
catnap in the middle. Very stressful with lots of problems, and due to
various causes we were only able to get in one short kitten walk during
that day. I promised Harri that when we shut down for the night I'd be
sure that she got a good kitten walk.

We were nearing the end of our day as I got on the freeway about 11:45
PM. After we had travelled just a couple of miles, a big pickup pulling
one of those trailers of the sort they haul race cars in lost his
trailer on the freeway. The trailer ended up flipping end over end and
crashing into the freeway just about a foot and half from us. If it had
hit our truck I have no doubt that it would have killed Harri and me
instantly.

Seeing this huge piece of metal slam into the road right next to us of
course scared me spitless. I was clutching the steering wheel in a death
grip, arms locked rigid, so scared I couldn't even think what to do
next. Harri cat came to the rescue! She climbed up in my arms and
started grooming my beard and mustache. She gave me the most intense
grooming I've ever experienced. With a tiny sweet little kitten grooming
me and purring right in my face I had no choice but to relax.

I got us to the truck stop and found a dcent parking place, then the
very first thing I did was take little baby kitty for her dark walk.
After calming me down so quickly and efficiently, she deserved a nice
fun walk.

Wow, what a story! I sure hope you find different work ASAP, if not sooner.

I feel the same way as everyone else on this thread.  How scary!  What

What a terrible thing to happen, Dan! But what a wonderful nurse kitty
Harri is. Go Harri! You know how to look after your Paw properly. We'll
be sending some purrs your way, just in case Harri runs out.

How frightening! Harri could sense your tension and stress and knew just
what to do to take care of her Paw.  Such a good kitty. Purrs on the way
for you and Harri that you make it home safe and soon find a job that
will keep you at home.

As others have said, what a horrific experience!  I'm so glad no one was
hurt.  Harri is such a sensitive and bright little girl - she knew just what
you needed.  And you reciprocated with a nice walk after the adventure :)
Like the others, I sure hope you get a job at home soon.

OMG, Dan, what a terrible fright.  Thank whoever you believe in that you are
both okay and many good wishes and hopes that you will soon find a job in
your own field.  What a lovely little girl Harri is to realise you needed
comforting.
I have to ask this:  how are you allowed to drive for so long?  Here in UK
drivers have thingies called trachometers, which record the hours driven, to
ensure they get proper breaks.  Don't you have this system in the USA?
