I don't know about cats, but some dogs - or rather bitches - certainly get
it. After the appropriate length of time after they've been in season, they
get moody, usually attach themselves to an object such as a slipper or
cuddly toy, scratch up everywhere making a bed for their surrogate puppy,
place it in the bed and produce milk for it. They will guard it, too.
What they *don't* do is get so fat and uncomfortable that they have to walk
straddle-legged.
I don't know what to make of Sonya at all. The gestation period for cats is
the same as dogs, nine weeks. Pam has had her how long. nearly 7 weeks??
Certainly not long enough for a true pregnancy to show when she first had
her, I wouldn't have thought.
In a bitch, after about four weeks after mating, if you lift her front legs
up so she's standing just on her hind legs and look down, her abdomen will
look just a bit rounded if there are puppies in there. At that stage they do
not expand outwards.
Ah, I don't know if cats are the same! It's a puzzle. I wish Pam would
tell us what's happening. She's so cruel to tell us that Sonya's in labour
(the day before yesterday for me) and then not post an update. ;-) even if
it isn't good news. I'm waiting here with bated breath, as I'm sure all you
lot are too.

Do you suppose she really is waiting for an April's Fools' Day surprise?
I keep saying to myself "Yes, Virginia, there really is a Sonya." Old
saying" With Faith, all things can happen>" I also keep thinking maybe
the worst has happened and she doesn't want to tell us. See! We are all
really worried. MLB

That's what I am worried about.

I'm also worried that the worst might have happened, but then again, if I
don't know what's happening, I worry anyway. I would rather hear the worst
than not know.
Sonya\ tell us.

I'm with you on that. In checking past posts, I count about 8 from Pam
since she said Sonya was in labor. She is caught up in that Toad thing.
Is that more important than Sonya? Or us? MLB

Pam sent 10 posts in reply to various others all at more or less the same
time as she said Sonya was in labour.
I don't agree that the Toad Suck thing is more important to Pam, I guess
we'll soon know (and it can't come soon enough for me) what the reason is.
Maybe her computer has crashed. Maybe it's bad news, I don't know. Pam
knows that we are all on tenterhooks, and I trust her to let us know as soon
as she is able to.
Please tell us soon, Pam, I can hardly bear the suspense.

I'm a terrible worrier too. Let's hold virtual hands for comfort while we
wait to hear. <hands held>

Thanks for the hand holding. I keep telling myself "no news is good news"

I too am a bit concerned. Can't anyone contact Pam via phone or some
other means?

I've heard of cats and dogs having false pregnancies.

What about false labor? Do cats have false labor? I know d*gs can and
do, not sure about kitties though.
