I woke up in the middle of the night last night. It wasn't the cats;
they were snoozing peacefully by my legs. They were spooning, with
Frank's arm around Nikki. Aww! As I peered at them through the dusk, I
saw that Nikki's head was resting on something light-coloured. I reached
out and touched it gently. It was soft and fuzzy. She had brought Piggy
into bed and was using him as her pillow! Double aww!

It's been quite cold lately for March in Helsinki. It goes down to
around -20 C (-4 F) during the night. During the day, as the sun warms
up our glassed-in balcony, it gets nice and toasty, and the cats have
been enjoying the rays on their shelf out there. But Nikki is too
impatient in the morning, and wants to go outside while it's still very
cold. She complains at the door, I go and open it, and she sticks her
nose outside. She sniffs the cold air for a few seconds, then she shakes
her head vigorously - nope, not warm enough yet - and backs inside
again. Ten minutes later, she's complaining at the door again. I just
think that head shake is so funny. Maybe the cold air stings her ears.

But will Mere like being used as a pillow?  ;-)

I tell her it's cold or windy (she hates wind). She goes out, & 90
seconds later she's asking to come in. Ninety seconds later she's
asking to go out. And so it goes, all day, even in good weather.

What a couple of cuties. A house with comfy happy cats is a happy
house indeed.

Polonca, is it very cold in your part of the world? I've been wondering
if it's just us Finns, or do other Buropeans have very cold weather for
this time of year, too? I hope everyone stays warm.

Sorry to cut into this private conversation <G> but maybe you can explain
something I've been wondering about.  I've seen the term "Buropean" several
times on this and other newsgroups.  What is the difference between
"Buropean" and "European", and why the "B"?

Joy (just curious)

Joy, you must have been here at the time of the big Europe/Burope
conversion! Have you really seen it on other newsgroups? Here's what
happened.

A few years ago, I complained when your good Mr Bush had visited Germany
and our TH news here in Finland kept showing the same clip of a very
serious Mr Bush saying that the terrorists have maps of Europe too. TJ
had just been bragging about the big map of Europe that she had bought
to keep tabs of rpca members on this side of the pond, but when she
heard what your President had said, she quickly made a slight alteration
with a magic marker, so that she shouldn't be accused of terorrism. We
all agreed that none of us want to be accused of terrorism. Hence, we
are now Buropeans, living in Burope. Maybe you were out travelling when
this happened?

For the past few days we've had spring weather, so we hope that you'll be
having it soon too,
