CatNipped - 12 Mar 2005 17:49 GMT Cats are truly amazing - not that I have to tell you guys that!
Bandit is getting better at an incredible rate. I went to the vet this morning to pick up some more pain meds, but I don't think she's going to need them. She hasn't had one since last night and she seems to be quite perky and feeling well (you can see it in her face in these pictures).
Again, gross-out warning for those of you who don't like this kind of stuff, but interesting for the vet techs and others who like medical stuff. Here are pictures of the wound. It looks *SO* much better than it did just two days ago! It's dry, no weeping or drainage, no redness or puffiness - it's well on its way to being healed (I am ecstatic!!). You can also see by her demeanor that she is perking up a lot too.

Karen - 12 Mar 2005 17:52 GMT > Cats are truly amazing - not that I have to tell you guys that! > [quoted text clipped - 21 lines] > CatNipped > http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped/ She definitely looks perky. With such good recovery it speaks well of her overall health for an older gal. That must feel pretty good to you!
CatNipped - 12 Mar 2005 18:05 GMT > She definitely looks perky. With such good recovery it speaks well of her > overall health for an older gal. That must feel pretty good to you! Oh man does it! I told her vet (not that I needed to) that I didn't want her to be treated as an older kitty who is just hanging on and the only treatment is to make her comfortable until she dies. I want her treated aggressively to give her the best standard of life and health. I want her to live for another 20 years just like the "oldest kitty in the world"!!!
She was / is in excellent health except for a slightly elevated creatinin and BUN (which is common in older cats) - and even then, when they tested her Wednesday they said her BUN was back down into normal range (I had changed her diet to add canned food and bought a Drinkwell fountain to encourage her to drink more water, so I guess it's working)! YAY!!!
Hugs,
CatNipped

They certainly are! Her belly is looking a lot better!
I can't get over how she just lies there looking relaxed while you put your hand on what remains of her belly fur and take a picture! I'm still a bit cautious with mine when I touch the belly area, although once in a while they will allow it.
I love all cats. Actually, I have been accused of a total lack of discrimination in that area, when a friend pointed out that from his point of view not all the cats I was admiring were actually not as gorgeous as I claimed. Some were clearly less attractive than others, according to him.
But all in all, in spite of my weakness for many different cats, I have a real, extra weakness for the stripy ones, and Bandit is a gorgeous example of a stripy cat.

When she doesn't have a boo-boo, I stick my *face* in her belly and give her "bugga belly" (shaking my head back and forth murmuring "bugga, bugga, bugga"). Anyone else putting any body part in her near vicinity can expect amputation!

I know I'm prejudiced, but I think so, and going by what others say who see her in person, she is quite striking - especially her emerald green eyes.

Anyone else >putting any body part in her near vicinity can expect amputation! Oooh, they sure shaved a lot of fur, and that looks like a *lot* of stitches for an abscess, or whatever it was! Poor thing! But on the plus side, it's a perfect excuse now to do bugga belly more often, sort of as a check-up. :) She looks very cute and trusting in those pictures.

Mommy say's my eyes are like bright shining emeralds - personally I think they're prettier than emeralds. We've seen pictures of you and you are correct, your eyes are a beautiful shade of blue! All my step-sisters have yellow eyes, so there are three sets of topazes to go with my emeralds - Mommy has quite a gem collection here!

The inflammation is gone, and, judging from her demeanor, the spot is a lot less sore than it had been. When are the staples scheduled to come out?
