I've just had a terrible shock.
My uncle, who would have turned 80 next month, suddenly passed away
today.
I haven't got a lot of details yet, save the fact that my mom called me at
about 2:45 PM to let me know that he was being taken to the hospital. Then
she called me about an hour later with the bad news.
:o(
This really hurts. I'm just in total shock. My family is small -- I only
HAVE two aunts, two uncles, and two first cousins, and now one of my
uncles has passed away. (Each of my parents has one sister, and both
sisters married and had a son).
I realize that at age 41, I need to be grateful that both my parents, as
well as both aunts and uncles have been with me all this time.
But STILL. Still. When it's a good person, it never feels like they've
been with us long enough, does it? We need good people like my uncle to
stay with us for as long as the good Lord can spare them.
I'm sure he's been greeted by our other relatives who've gone before, who
were also good people who are missed. And I firmly believe that we'll all
see one another again someday.
But please send prayers and purrs, because this loss is going to be rough
on my family, especially my aunt and my cousin.
Thanks. I appreciate it.

My father's family is small as well (he has two siblings and three of
them have a total of 8 children). As each parent has died (my father is
the only one remaining) it has been devastating to all of us. You and
your family have our purrs and meatloaf meditations and sincere sympathy
and hugs.

Having had a similar shock over my friend's death this week, I can relate,
Donna. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Purrrs and hugs. Hug Captain and Stanley, and take what comfort in this
that you can. As bad as the shock is, you can be glad for his sake that his
death wasn't long and painful. But it's not much comfort for those of us
left behind on Earth.

Unfortunately, one of several things that tends to unify a family is
the death of one of its members. Purrs and hugs for all of you as you
go through this together.
