On the local TV news today. A cat in Essex, Whisky (black & white male) will
be 34 next week, making him the oldest living cat. On the pictures of
Whisky - he's a little bit unsteady on his feet but he had bright eyes and
absolutely no problem batting a bit of string being dangled by his slave :-)
Aparently she rescued him from the streets of London when he was a kitten,
34 years ago.

Wow, and the owner found him abandoned so he might even be older than that!
Go Whisky! :)

Well, if she "found him as a kitten", he couldn't be MUCH
older! (Less than a year, unless he enjoyed a longer
kittenhood than most.)

Don't they all enjoy kittenhood? Heck, Persia is probably 6 or 7 and she's
zooming around here like a mad cat a lot of the time! :)

Wow. Amazing. Frank is just a youngster beside Whisky (but eek! he'll be
18 this year <knock on wood>).

WOW! God bless the kitty AND the lady who saved him!
For a cat to reach 34 years of age is VERY impressive, to say the least! I
wish him the best of health for the rest of his nine lives. :o)

Whisky has indeed been blessed. All my cats, through the years, have been
strays or "throwaways". Haven't had a kitten in many years (kittens are
snapped up first at
shelters it seems). Whisky Rules!

Bless his dear little old heart! I wonder if my sister, who lives in
Essex, caught this on her local news? I'll have to ask her when I
call on the weekend.
My Lady Jane Grey, who's twenty-one is still going strong (knock
wood), loves string and feather games, and still get the occasional
attack of the zoomies. She also flouts some of the household rules,
but I can't bring myself to do anything but spoil her. Doesn't she
just know it too!!
Regards and Purrs,

How sweet! Persia got the zoomies this morning when I was awakened early
and trying to nap. Sounded like a herd of elephants. Funny how she can
jump so lightly onto the bed but otherwise be just LOUD. Give Lady Jane a
hug and scritches for me :)

It feels a bit odd knowing there's a cat out there that's older than I
am!

"wafflycat" <wafflesATv21netDOTcoDOTuk> had some very interesting
things to say about 34-year-old cat:

Wow! Makes me feel better about Felix. I've lately been thinking a lot
about his aging (he's now about 11 or 12) and getting down about how I
now have less time left with him than I've had with him.

I remember reading about him when he was 30, I'm so happy to hear he's
still arround. It would be great if he could break the record of the
oldest cat ever, which currently stands at 37.
