Kind of gross, but for those of you (Mischief) who are interested in
veterinary medicine you might want to have a look. Pictures of Bandit's
boo-boo (sorry baby, Mommy's not kissing this one!):
http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped/Bandit_Boo_Boo/.
It actually looks really good compared to how the gangrenous burn looked.
There's still a spot on the left that is still blistered, you can see than
on the last two photos on the page - but picture that 2 1/2 inches wide and
4 inches long and you can imagine why this is *SO* much better.

It looks good to me, so good that I am certain she will recover fine. Your
vets have done a fine job to put things right as well as this.

Aawww! Poor baby, and he has to wear that collar too. The indignity of
it... (I know, I know, so he doesn't lick the sore, but still)

Poor Bandit. Its always so sad that they can't tell us when they are hurt.
And so often even try to hide it from us. Anyone who has pets long enough
get to go through them having something that needs attention and us not
knowing what it is.
She looks fairly comfy now though.
And by the way I love your quilt. I'm looking for a new summer weight quilt
for our bed and just can't find one I like.

Thank you. I think the pain medication keeps her on a fairly even keel.
And I feel so guilty that I'm going way overboard in pampering her and she
has not objections to that at all!! ;?
To pique her appetite I bought cans (all packed in water) of tuna, chicken,
salmon, albacore, and crab meat. Plus fresh roast beef that I chop into
small pieces, dampen, and nuke for a few seconds.
I'm still worried about one thing. I've seen her in the litter box
urinating (I think, it's hard to tell with "Yesterday's Mews" since it
doesn't clump), but she hasn't defecated yet. I'm assuming it probably
hurts her to strain even a little in order to eliminate waste, but it's
worrying.
Regarding the quilt - yeah, I got it at Foley's when we moved into our
house. The comforter set (sheets, pillow cases, bed skirt, pillow shams,
and comforter) was *way* too expensive - over $600.00 - but I was still
working at my old (well paying) job and since we'd just gotten the house I
decided to splurge. It demonstrates just how much I love my Bandit to tell
you that 2 days after I bought it she hurked up a hairball all over it and
she's still alive! ;> Actually, it didn't even make me mad, I just swabbed
it up and she's done it dozens of times since then. Now with the wound she
has and the burn before that, gawd knows what else is all over it. Ah well,
that's what washing machines are for. Got to say though, that it has held
up nicely through all of that, so I guess you do get what you pay for.

I think I'm going to have to break down and shop in nicer stores!
I'd guess her innards aren't working too well yet between the surgery and
the pain meds. I had to gently massage our Sam to get him to defecate when
he had major surgery.
If she is eating and drinking she should be fine.

Awwww, poor Bandit. Many loud, rumbly purrs coming her way from the
trio. I just love the look on her face - "Just wait till this collar
comes off...." It's a good sign, must mean she's feeling better ;-)

NICE.

Poor baby! I'm sure glad it's getting better. I'll bet Bandit is a lot
more comfortable now.

glad to hear that it's all patched up, although I personally don't like
steel stitches.
Purrs that she heals quickly.

BTW, has it gotten easier giving her the meds?

I think the stainless steel stitches were put in for two reasons - first,
cats don't tend to mess with them as much, and second, since there was so
much infection in the tissue that was removed there is less chance of
tearing and further infection - that wound is bound up *tight*.
As to the meds yes, you guys really came through for me. DH and I wrap her
in a towel and he holds her and I put the drops in the corner of her mouth.
She still drools and foams, but I give her warmed up chicken right
afterwards. So all of her Clavamox is getting into her and not all over all
of us! ;>
