I got a new cordless mouse and keyboard on the weekend and my cats
have decided to sabotage it. Maybe they think that without it I'll
spend more time petting them?
This morning I came to use my computer and discovered that my keyboard
didn't work! The mouse was fine, but the keyboard was as dead as the
dodo. I pressed every key in case it had an 'off' button that I didn't
know about. Nope. I changed the batteries twice in case they were
flat. Nope. I turned it over and read the connection instructions and
pressed the 'connect' button about a dozen times. Still dead. I was
mystified... the mouse worked fine, so there was nothing wrong with
the wireless received - so was the keyboard defective?! Then I looked
at the back of the computer and discovered that the keyboard plug was
hanging off - with toothmarks on it. One of the cats (I have a strong
suspicion who) sat there last night chewing at the cable and they
pulled the plug right out of the machine... as soon as I reinserted it
and restarted the keyboard worked fine... so now the cats are having
another go. Scout rolled on top of the keyboard and put the computer
to sleep, and she's somehow told the mouse to act as a highlighter
instead of just clicking... so now I can't read my messages!

I finally got a home network set up and working. only to have Molly chew
through just about every wire on the second computer.

Can I applaud you for getting the network running? I have given up on
that particular domestic project!
Redunzel and Sarrasine have both removed the mouse lead and on more
than one occasion broken the keyboard. Cats don't like anything that
distracts humans from what cats think they are there for i.e. feeding,
stroking, striching or anything else the cat wants! (Isis used to
plonk herself down in the middle of the keyboard as soon as anyone
started typing and get most indignant when moved)

aw, the joys of hooli-kittens. reminds me of when all four of LB's
kits were here, and I had to put the UPS, surge protector, keyboard
etc inside boxes to keep them from chewing wires, turning stuff on and
off etc. Course it wouldn't work now, since LB and Sam have discovered
the joys of boxes, and it would just be an invitation to break in and
play ;-)
