Sometimes, standing your ground just *works*.  I just got a call back from
that credit card company about my credit insurance.  After threatening to
hire a lawyer, saying I sent them written notification of my unemployment
status in plenty of time and they were at fault for not sending me the
paperwork to file the claim for that for which I had been paying...

They have reviewed and approved my claim retroactive to last July (which is
when I notified them in writing).  They are crediting my account with any
and all late fees, finance charges, etc.  They apologized for any
inconvenience.  The claim will remain active until July of this year and
they will contact me 30 days before to find out if I am still unemployed so
I may continue my claim if necessary.  Yeeeeee haaaaa!  One less thing to
worry about!

Thanks!  I think most of these companies figure, he/she will just cave (and
most people probably do).  It had to be the mention of hiring an attorney
that did it.  Or perhaps I simply stated my case eloquently LOL

They *were* in the wrong since I'd notified them properly in writing.  Yet
not one person mentioned I'd been paying for this "protection" all along,
how's about we send you the paperwork?

I don't let mechanics jack me around about my car, either :)

Sometimes you have to fight for what you're entitled to.  Glad you've
slain the bureaucracy dragon.
