Bonnie is still miserable this morning so I guess I will take her to my
vet for a follow up to-day.   There is no improvement in her movement
and she is sleeping most of the time.   I suspect that with strained and
torn ligaments it will take ages to heal but guess I need to see if an X
Ray shows if anything is fractured.

Please keep us posted. Ligaments are awfully slow to heal.

Awwww, poor Bonnie.  More purrs on the way (and birdie chirps).  I seem to
be having some good luck so maybe that will transfer over :)

Yes, it does take time and time passes slowly in such a case. She will
need extra protein to rebuild the tissue. Like the best parts of your
dinner! ;-)  Purrs,

Just back from the vet and he thinks nothing is broken so no X rays.
Said it could take about three weeks to get better because she has
damaged herself in the lower back.   Unfortunately she hates living on
the floor and already is eyeing the tops of tables and ledges.   So far
she hasn't had the courage to jump but it won't be long!   Vet said that
is when she could tweak it and get sore again - don't see how I can stop
her jumping short of confining her in a large cage that Lois has lent
me.   BTW Bonnie already gets the best of the human food, lol.   Thanks
for all the purrs.

going to take some time to heal up. Purrs from me and my gang that

Thanks for the purrs, she really needs them.   This morning she is
crying with pain a lot and not eating.   It may be that the vet
examination aggravated her condition - she yowled horribly the whole
time.  I've just had to rescue her from the litter box which has fairly
high sides!

The vet said nothing was broken and she didn't need X rays.   I did ask
:)    Torn ligaments take ages to heal, about three weeks, he said.

Ohmygawd, poor baby.  Whenever muscles or ligaments are torn, cut, or
injured the pain can be extreme.  I've had several times that muscles
orligaments had to be cut and repaired during surgery and those were the
worst recuperations.

Purrs still heading your way for Bonnie to pull through this as soon as
possible.

Bonnie is still really miserable this morning.   My main worry is that
she hasn't used the littter box since the accident.   It took her two
days to urinate for the first time so I am hoping that it will come
right of its own accord.   She has eaten a little each day, just a few
mouthfuls and lapped off the water I put on the food.  I don't think she
is in pain when she is lying down but in extreme pain when she tries to
walk or move her body.   However somehow she manages to get to various
parts of the house under her own steam, something, I suppose.

Bev, could the vet allow Bonnie some painkillers? If she is being
confined to a pen then they shouldn't mean she will start bounding
around, and they may make her feel better enough to eat, drink and most
importantly use the tray again. If she can't even squat comfortably and
doesn't go she may get UTIs to add to her problems. Just a thought - I
am not a vet. Continued purrs for Bonnie -

Thanks for the advice Deb.   She did have painkillers for the first
couple of days.   The trouble  with painkillers is that they can mask
the pain so the kitty can do more damage by over extending.   She is
sleeping a lot and looks comfortable when resting.    We'll see how she
is to-morrow :)

Bev,
Purrs and gentle headbutts on the way for poor Bonnie. I wonder if a
laxative would make it easier for her to pass solids?  Hopefully by now
she's managed to go and it isn't an issue but if she's eating she really
should go. Sam has trouble because sometime during his life before us he
suffered a severe trauma that broke his pelvis and without medical
intervention it repaired itself wrong.  He now has a very narrow pelvic
passage and has trouble passing solids and everything gets compacted in
his intestines. I'd hate for poor Bonnie to have that problem as well.

How is she now?  Don't panic.  7-10 days for wounds to look better.

You could try picking her up extremely gently and putting her in the litter
box say 3 times a day.
I had to carry one of my dogs outside for toilet duties when he was injured
and it was too painful for him to make the effort himself.
He weed for so long when he found himself on the grass that first time I was
sorry it hadn't occurred to me before.

This reminded me of an infamous incident involving Isis and Fugazi.

Dave had gone to see Fluff's slaves and called me to say that he was
going to stay the night there. Now I was going to my parents so we
arranged to meet for lunch the next day and I was about to go when two
friends turned up. This was good news for me as they would come most
of the way back with me. As we were about to leave the flat Helena
asked to use the toilet so I said "Sure, but when you come back out
make sure you leave the door open so the kittens can use their box as
we're both out all night."

Of course you can guess what happened without thinking she must have
shut the door.....

So Dave picks me up from work and we have a lesiurely lunch then come
home.

I said "Whoops!" and opened the bathroom door.

You have never seen two kittens move that fast to get to their litter
tray and their expressions when they peed said it all, such relief!
Believe it or not they hadn't done anything despite being locked off
from toilet facilities for about 18-20 hours.
