Got a letter from my credit card company declining my application to use my
"credit protection insurance". The reason cited was I didn't notify them of
the "event" (lost job) in a timely manner. Uh, wrong. I have a copy of
where they wrote and acknowledged it. So I called and pointed out I have a
copy of this and also where I sent them the check stub from my last
unemployment payment indicating I have $0 benefits remaining as of the end
of November, 2004, etc. I threatened to hire an attorney because I have
been trying to pay them as much as I can (and no, not using the card). I
was put on hold. Oh, now my application will be reviewed and someone will
contact me within 48 hours to discuss it. Gee, you think the mention of
hiring an attorney has something to do with this? I still will try to find
an attorney if I get stonewalled further. Been paying for this "insurance"
for a long time and no one once said, "Oh, you're paying for this; let me
send you the paperwork." Grrrrrr.
OB Cats: When I tried to give her a bit of a meatball last week, Persia
wanted nothing to do with it. But she'll go nuts if I cook brussels
sprouts. No, she doesn't eat them, but she begs like crazy for a taste of
one. Goofy kitty girl <G>

Unfortunately, these companies are in the business of making money, not being
fair. If they can find a way to nitpick their terms so that you lose, they
will do so =/
I sat on the phone with a lady at a credit card company (I'd been told there
wouldn't be a charge for transferring my balance; there was) for a good 15 or
20 minutes, going round and round. "I need you to remove these charges."
"Ma'am, we can't do that." etc. She threatened to hang up on me, but it was
clear she wouldn't do so. Finally, after specifically telling me she wouldn't
pass me to the manager and that there was no way (*laugh*) that they could
drop the charges, she transferred me to someone who claimed to be a manager.
(I learned in tech support jobs that one way to cool someone off is to
transfer them to another rep, claiming to be a manager, so as to give the
customer the impression that they're moving up.) Anyway, long story short,
they dropped the charge. I hated, absolutely *hated*, playing this game, but
I suspected it would work ... and it did. I was simply tying up their
resources to the point that they capitulated.

Grrr is right!! I'm convinced that most "insurance" is just a scam.
Even health insurance is becoming one. Or maybe it already was only
I just found out.

They sure are looking for loopholes to not pay out any money. Typical
of insurance. I had payment protectors on my credit cards; but I got
to the point where I couldn't take the bills down due to the size of
the pp-ins. So I cancelled them all. Now my bills are finally going
down at a decent rate. i might see daylight some day. I just hope i
can keep working until that day. My sister decided to go bankrupt and
start over. She was at the end of her rope. I don't want to do that.
I hope you get this settled soon. But I also hope you get a good job
asap. Purrs,
