Dulce Mae is a smart girl.
She knows how to open doors. She even knows how to close them.
When I was in the bathroom, I noticed her pulling at the bottom of the
cabinet door, tryingto pull it open. Finally, she just stood up on her
hind legs, wrapped her front paws around the knob on the door, and
pulled.
When the door opened, she sat down and went into the cabinet.
And Little Feet is no slouch either.
Last night, I was looking through the peephole on our back door,
before going to bed. Little Feet always comes to the door with me, in
case he gets to look outside.
I felt Little Feet between my own feet and glanced down. He was
standing at the door, with one of *his* eyes against the door. I guess
I need to install a low-floor peephole just for him. I'm prett certain
it would confuse the hell out of management and any burglars...

Sarrasine is a criminal genius. Listen to this....
The week before last I got the cats a new dish. So when I got back
from my post payday spending spree (you know the one I regret now)I
put the bag with the new dish in the bedroom. At this point Sarrasine
is doing a very good impersonation of a dead cat on top of the monitor
in another room.
The next day, I threw the old dish in the bin as I was taking the
rubbish out. Sarrasine heard someone near dish and rushed in to see if
something food related was on offer. Yes she had been once again doing
her dead cat impersonation (Dave once was convinced she had died when
she was a kitten, he stroked her, picked her up and she was limp in
his arms. He was about to consider the kiss of life when she opened
one eye and glared at him)but this cat can sleep-eat
And skidded to a halt when she realised there was no sign of her
dish....
So she sat there, staring at where her dish used to be as if she
thought if she concentrated enough it would reappear. Then she started
to look around the kitchen even pulling things open to check.
Still no dish...so she retreated to where the dish ought to be and
alternated "Feed me or else" looks with "I am a poor unloved half
starving kitten" looks (She's on a loser with those, I had 16 years of
Isis, Emeritus Professor of cute starving kitten looks but she is
learning)
I confess to telling her that every cat only got so much food in their
life and being a greedy pig she had eaten all hers....
So off she stalked with her nose in the air....
And reappeared with the new dish! She placed it exactly where the old
one had been and looked at us with a look that plainly said " Cut the
crap, fill the dish and we'll pretend this never happened"
I of course filled the dish but I don't know how she knew where the
new dish was.

She's a criminal genius- we call the pair of them "Pinky and the
Brain" and Redunzel's Pinky, which is not to say that she's dumb. In
any other pair of cats she would be considered pretty smart herself,
she's taught herself how to open doors, it's just Sarrasine is
probably the smartest cat to have ever owned me

Way to go cats! I think you should install a small peephole in the bottom
of your door.

Many moons ago when we got a new front door with sidelights, Cali thought it
was just for her. Now that we've got two cats they look like bookends, one
on each side of the door.

LOL! At the very least, pick him up and demo the regular peephole for him
sometime. If he likes it, give him his own peephole ar kitty eye-level.

One day I came in from work and found all the books from the cupboard at the
top of the wardrobe on the floor and the sliding doors wide open.
we thought someone had broken in and been looking for hidden loot { of which
we had none}It wasn't for days afterwards that we caught our 3
month old kitten Panther doing it again, we heaved a sigh of relief that
no-one had broken in after all. Jean.P.

Today I watched QC paw open our bedroom door from the inside. Unless
you close it hard, it doesn't catch fully. I knew the cats could open
it from the outside, and I've watched Tanada, Merlin and Huey do so.
But I was impressed that they could open it from the inside. BTW Calvin
is very good at opening my mouth with his paw. He likes to see where
the laugh is coming from.
