This is actually pretty funny.  I was searching monster.com for I.T. jobs
and ran across this listing:

     Support Analyst, Sr. - I3211

Company: Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc. Location:
US-TN-Memphis
Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Computers, Software

Associate Degree

4.. Tests all software enhancements to the supported applications prior to
release.

5.. Provides guidance and/or training for lesser experienced colleagues as
required.

6.. Supports the Total Performance Management initiative.

 7.. Travels as required.
This was MY f.cking job!  I wonder who they lost or fired this time?  S. was
the only other Senior Analyst there and was looking for a way out of that
department even before I was let go.  Then after I left they promoted M. who
had been there less than a year.  She always had to leave early because of
"emergencies" with her daughter or husband.  I had to laugh when I heard she
was a "senior analyst".  She couldn't analyze her way out of a paper bag.

As to the testing of all software applications, gee - isn't that what they
created the QA department for?  What the hell happened to it?  I need to
email and ask F.

They must be getting desperate to post this to monster.com because there's
no way someone can walk into that job without already knowing the software
first.  It's not commercial software; it's written by and only used by SCMS
colleagues to process the claims.

I'm seriously considering sending my resume as a joke.  Might give someone a
good laugh.  I know it would give me one! heheh

Send it in, but on your resume ask for 4 times what you were getting
with this company before! Then if they come back to you that will be
the even bigger joke!

Jill, that's actually sort of maddening. I'm glad you can laugh.
Purrs for something to come up. I also think you should send your
resume though.

I did!  LOL  I also emailed one of my friends there who told me two people
had left the department to take other positions within the company (under
different manager - surprise!).  She told me just yesterday morning she and
another co-worker were talking about how much they missed me :)

Not as long as the same woman is managing the department (she is).  That
same co-worker just called me on the phone to fill me in on some stuff going
on there.  I already knew they moved the former department supervisor to
another department (basically without asking).  The woman supervising the
department now told F. just the other day, firing me was the stupidest move
they ever made.  LOL  It's nice to know *some* people appreciated me :)

Can you go to this horrible woman's superior and discuss the fact that
you'd be the obvious choice for the job but that it's this woman who
is the problem?  Maybe they can move this woman to another department
and give you the job back.

I don't want to suggest anything improper, but I'd like to know what this
woman did to get in such a position of power.  She manages three
departments.  I personally have witnessed her abusing her position to
belittle people (she said sort of offhandedly to B. in front of everyone in
our department people with 'Southern Accents' are generally stupid - B.
transferred to Memphis from Charlotte; the Manager is from Chicago which she
rails on and on about as being the greatest city in America).  She
humiliated B., who is not stupid.

Unfortunately, this woman has something, I don't know what.  HER boss called
me into his office on Halloween, 2003, to tell me what a great job I was
doing.  By the end of April, 2004 I was gone.  So much for her boss thinking
I'm great. (He's been there even less time than she has, and both of them
less time than me.)  Oh, and try sitting through an unexpected meeting with
the Assistant I.T. Director whilst wearing a boned bodice, hoop skirt and
Scarlett O'Hara wig.

We had a similar situation where I work, and the woman was let go
"due to reorganization". It took a while, but everyone finally saw
what she was up to. The funny/sad part was that she never saw it
coming. She caused all of her best people to quit, got a couple of
people fired, and went over the head of her own supervisor for
issues that those higher ups didn't have the time to deal with.
IOW, she hung herself.

One can only hope.  This woman has entirely too much power, IMHO.

I wouldn't even send it in as a joke, I would send it in seriously.
Really, what have you got to lose?

Well, you're looking for a better job than that one anyway.  It
probably involves phone support, and besides, you were only truly
happy after you left that job. :)

I was in that job for 5 of my 11 years there; I did actually like it.  In
fact, I'm the reason the "Senior" position was created.  Call it ego if you
will but my experience and skill level was so far above those who were just
hired I was rather insulted to be thought of on the same 'level'.  I was
training and mentoring them, reviewing their support calls, etc.  So I wrote
a proposal to the then manager to create a second-tier position, if you
will.  They did; HR approved it, graded it higher than the entry level with
suitable higher salary ranges.  It was only after they reorganized and
changed managers things started to get rocky.  If that hadn't happend I'm
sure I'd still be there.  As it is, I now have NO income and when I do find
a job I sure won't start out with 25 vacation days.

I think you're right.

For the heck of it, unless you TOTALLY loathe and despise the idea of
working there again, send in your resume. See what they have to say.

Chances are, they'll appreciate you better the second time around. If you
even want to go back, that is.
