Have I got a cat with a case of OCD? The only thing he plays with,
ever, is his own tail, which he will do for a half hour or more at a
time with a zany look on his face. He doesnt bite or anything, but he
seems to get a lot of exercise out of it.

My Cheeky does this, but not for that long at a time and not every
day. I've read that it is something that OCD cats do, but have never
had an OCD cat so I don't have firsthand experience.

Carrie does this a lot; she's around 8 years old. When we got her, she
didn't actually seem to be into playing much, preferring just to revel
in the company of hoomins who looked after her. But then she discovered
the black snaky thing that followed her around .....

Pandora has started doing it.... because she's....Ahem... "plump" ;o)
she looks very silly - especially when she loses her balance.

Now, Helen, don't you know that she's *Fluffy*....not "plump"...;)
Rather like Katie, who liked to get on the banister and attack
her own tail through the rails. Past tense, since she is now
too "fluffy" to get her little butt *on* the banister, much less
get around to attacking her tail.
Too bad she always jumped off before I could get the camera....
Chris (obviously without the supervision of Katie, much less Tripper
and Hazard...:) )

Imp will do this when he's in a silly mood. He'll curl up in his cube
and start attacking anything, especially his tail. It's hilarious
because the entire cube shakes and rolls around.
There have been mornings where I've found the cube all the way across
the room. :)

Some cats love to chase their tails and really get into it. Isis (RB)
was a serious tail chaser who would spin round and round and round.
She was doing that quite literally until a few days before she died
aged 16.
One morning she really excelled when she span and span and span....And
caught the tail monster and grabbed it with both claws and sunk her
teeth into it!
She then looked at me as if to say "I don't believe I just did that!"

Vino used to chase his tail but then one day he actually caught
it...and killed it...and now it's gone!!! ;-)

Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr. I have an alarm clock that's
covered in fur!

Sounds like great fun. Oscar will play with her tail occasionally; I only
wish she'd do it for half an hour, though I'm sure my tummy would ache from
laughing!

Nocturne can shove her tail tip right into her mouth, and does so when
she thinks no one's looking.
The kittens chase each other's tails as well as their own. They also
stalk Smokey's tail.

Frank (aged 17) still chases his tail on occasion.
