Howdy All,

I've been lurking a while, and now I've got something to contribute.
:o)

First of all, I have three cats,  Rather, three cats share me and the
other humans in the house.  Oreo is our instigator, Harry is our big,
fluffy, not-so-intelligent-but-oh-so-luvable male, and April is our
queen of the household.

Oreo is about 8 months old and still has the bald spot from spaying.
She's been getting progressively more active as more time goes by, but
we knew today that she's back up to speed when she was watching Tom
and Jerry cartoons (I kid you not) and tried to get in on the chase.
She jumped at the TV screen and swatted at the characters, trying so
hard to catch them.  Then she sat down, sighed, and looked at my
husband like "Help me Dad!".  And of course, by the time we got the
camera out, she had lost interest and gone on to something else.

Grins,

Lori

Hi Lori! Your furry family sounds wonderful. Got any photos to show
at alt.pictures.binaries.animals? Or maybe a URL to a photo website?

ROFL!! We used to have a kitten that loved to swat at the pirates in old
pirate movies. They all sound wonderful. Welcome to unlurkdom.

About 1981 or so, I had an Atari, and we had one of those big TVs that
sat on the floor and doubled as a piece of furniture :-). When I'd
play Breakout or Space Invaders, I usually had a bit more furry help
than I really wanted, and cats don't choose to understand "down in
front!" or "get out of the way!" :-)

There used to be a very short Japanese movie of a little black and white
cat sitting on his haunches and batting at a big yellow tabby   The big
cat took it for a while then a wrestling match ensued.   That is another
one I lost when I got the new computer.  Has anyone got the URL?
Best wishes.   MLB

Got a couple of each furry child at Shutterfly.  If you're not
familiar with the website, you can post pictures that anyone can look
at for free without registering (a plus in my book - I hate giving a
bunch of personal info just to see 1 picture and won't ask anybody
else to, either), with the option to buy prints of what you post.
I've never bought any of the prints, so I can't vouch for their
quality.

Anyway, the website is:

The pictures of Harry are in black and white.  Smokey grey cats take
such beautiful b&w's.

Enjoy!

What lovely babies!

I haven't used Shutterfly; I use Webshots.  I've bought "gifts" from my
prints that were absolutely great.  Couple of coffee mugs, a mousepad and,
when I could still afford to, I had holiday cards made.

Lori, they are all beautiful, how shiny April is and I cannot believe\
how symmetrical Oreo's markings are. Harry is just plain glamorous.
A heartstopper.

Hi Lori and welcome to the family.  Hmmm, I have a furfamily much the
same as you. I have Sam who is a big, goofy, sweetheart. There is Selena
who is a beautiful, very proper, goddess. Then we have Lacey and
Barnabus. Barnabus just joined the family and is fairly young so he's
still kittenish and Lacey is a teenage terror.  The old man of the
family is Hobbes, a very large, orange tabby who just wants to be with
his hoomans.  He'd prefer the household to consist of his two hoomans
and Selena but I think has resigned himself to the others.

I love the description of Oreo trying to catch the cartoon characters.
Lacey likes to chase Formula 1 cars across the television screen.  She's
the only one who shows much interest in the television.

Looking forward to more stories about your owners,
Julie, Hobbes, Selena, Lacey, Sam and Barnabus

Hi Lori!  Welcome.  My name is Lori too, but I go by "CatNipped" here.

Yep, cats, like kids, never let you record their cuteness for posterity!

Hi Lori; glad you de-lurked :)  That's too cute!  My Persia never pays the
slightest attention to the television.

Welcome Lori, Oreo, Harry, and April.  I'll eagerly wait to see the
pictures as well as read more stories.  Oreo sounds like a funny girl.

Hi, Lori, and welcome to you and your family! Soncek (which is Slovenian for
Sunshine) has only recently started to show interest in TV (he is 5 and a
half years old).
Looking forward to more of your stories and maybe some pics of your kitties,

Hi to Lori and Oreo and April and Harry! I love your story about
Oreo jumping the TV screen! I've had kitties that watch sometimes
(Shamrock was intrigued by the old Orkin commercials where a roach
walked across the screen) and one of my RB kitties, Marley, used to
chase game characters when my son would play Super Mario Brothers.

Hi, Lori.  Welcome to the bunch. I'm Sam just outside Seattle, WA, USA who,
along with dearest wife Ramona are "owned and operated" by Smokey ( 14 YO
solid black altered male), Mistletoe (6 YO spayed dilute tortie) and Scooter
(14YO long-haired chihuahua).

Obviously, we're seeing kittens that are mutating to catch up to and
be at home in the electronic age.  If you see her start to program
your VCR to record the "Animal Planet" channel's special on housecats,
I'd start to worry.

O J

PS: Glad you're out of lurk mode!  One more person to share things
with.  Yay!!

Actually, I'm hoping she evolves to the point that she can watch my
video tape classes and take notes for me in case I fall asleep.  As it
is, she does a good job of helping me stay awake while they're on.

Cats  do watch telly. My cat Fugazi (RB) used to love car chases, we'd
even call out to her "Gaz-gaz- vroom-vrooms" and she'd come running to
watch them. Her sister Isis (also RB)loved cartoons (another Tom and
Jerry fan- how come when the mouse wins every time?)

And they both loved wildlife documentaries. Isis even used to
understand the idea of a commercial break, when she would get off your
lap, go for a drink maybe a snack and use her box and be back before
the programme came back on.

I wish I'd had a camera for the time they were both watching a
wildlife programme and they're both staring up at the screen avidly
when the camera suddenly pans to a close up of a golden eagle. Fugazi
took several steps back and Isis ran for it!

My friend Mick's cat Sam would sit on top of the telly during snooker
matches and when the camera did a close up on the ball going towards
the pocket, he would reach down and try to flip the ball off with his
front paw. When it went into the pocket he would look behind the back
of the television wondering where it had gone.

Hi! Donna here. Your cats are beautiful! :o)

I'm the Meowmie to two boykitties, brothers who will be 11 months old in a
few days, named Captain and Stanley. I brought them home from the shelter
on January 21, and they wasted no time in taking over the house and making
it theirs. :o)

Prior to adopting the boys, I had three other cats, all females. Misty
(1976-1989), Melody (1990-2000), and Harmony (1990-2004) were three of the
most wonderful kitties ever, in my admittedly biased opinion ;o). I still
share stories about them here, because they had amazing personalities
(purr-sonalities?) and their legacy provided me with enough stories to
last for at least nine lives.

Captain and Stanley are pretty good at generating anecdotes themselves,
and they've only been here about six weeks. :o) They're a delightful pair
of furballs, and I'm greatly looking forward to spoiling them for as long
as humanly possible.

I set up a couple of online albums for the boys. One of them consists of
pictures from the night I brought them home:

http://members16.clubphoto.com/donna674416/2979870/guest.phtml

and the other is the pictures I've taken since that time:

http://members16.clubphoto.com/donna674416/3060819/guest.phtml

Anyway, welcome, and keep spoiling those kitties and sharing stories. :o)

the kitchen and dining room :)
