His little friend from next door, who he only just got to know and play
with, moved away this weekend.
He's been looking for her in the garden for the past two days.  Awww.  The
lad is looking a bit miserable and sad and keeps going outside to see if she
is there.
I'm glad I don't have to tell him he won't see her again;  he'll have to
figure that out for himself :-(

Awwwww :(  Poor Boyfriend can't catch a break with friends.  I think you
need to find a permanent friend for him.

I'm sure he will find one himself soon enough.  He is a friendly and gentle
cat and there are quite a lot of kitties around here. He just needs to meet
another one with a similar temperament and not a bad boy like "the enemy."
It's not common to keep cats inside here, so he'll meet quite a few on his
rat patrols.

Sounds a bit like Jake.  He was bereft when his friend Oreo moved away.  But
he really hasn't warmed up to the two kittens we've got since then.  Not is
the same way.  Friendship just seems to happen in its own way at its own
time.

I miss Oreo too.  He would arrive every morning to see if Jake could come
out to play.  Just like a little kid would.

Aww Karen! :(  I bet she is. Poor girl. They were together their
entire lives. Shamrock didn't seem to look for Shadow, but Shadow
seemed to mourn Marley. Funny, because those two never really got
along. Shadow's purrsonality changed when Marley died. About
Shamrock, though, he was very visably upset when Scarlett was at
the vets overnight when she got that infection. Rhett didn't seem
to notice she was gone, and they are littermates.

Possibly.  Were they close?   Although I had two whippet litter sisters who
were together since birth, and stayed here all their lives.  They were so
close it was unbelievable.  When Daisy died from CRF aged nearly 15, I
thought her sister Havoc would be devastated.  Not so.  She didn't even
appear to notice that Daisy wasn't here any more.
So I don't know whether dogs are different.
Boyfriend isn't looking for Jess any more.

No Bwahahahah here!  I think she should!  He seems to like having another
kitty around to hang out and play with.  If Persia liked other kitties I'd
get her a friend, but she's a loner, like me.  She hisses and has fits and
gets all puffy-tailed if she sees another cat.

Mommy fink I nappin on her desk - her and Daddy watchin a MOO VIE onna
pitchur box.  It's about some guy named Bob, he's made outta sponge and his
pants are square.  Sounds stoopid to me.  Silly hoomins.  Watchin kitties is
more fun danna pitchur box.

Weeble wanna play wif purple puffball now, so I gonna go watch him (hee get
all funny, mrrrp and meowing at it).

Purrs and snuggles,

Dear Mimi,

Everyone like my spotted nosie!  Auntie Nuele say she like "kitties with
nosies" and she say she like me.  She fritens me.  She been here several
times and staid a long while.  She tall and have yellow hair and talk funny,
not like my meowmie who much smaller, have brown hair and talk normal.
Kitty FC love Auntie Nuele.  Every nite she get up on her chest and purr and
stay dere all der evening.  She a scritch tart.
I not, der only person I let touch me is my meowmie.  When I see Auntie
Nuele in der house I stay outside till she go to bed, but she still say she
like me.
I were an orrible day yesterday, Mimi, it snowed and rained and it were very
cold, so I stayed indoors by the fire nearly all der day.
Today it were nicer, der sun shone a bit so I elped meowmie clean out some
of der chicke uts.
She sore a rat,  a big 'un.  She say did you see that, Boyfriend, go after
it.  I said you must be mistaken I didn't see a big rat.  Den she was a bit
cross.  She new I sore it.  She nose everything.

Dear Boyfriend;

I gyes I a scritch-tart, too.  I luv scritchies, specially on my chin, ears
or tummy.  I likes to nap on Mommy's desk and purr.  Mommy calls me her
furry-purry paperweight.

Der not many peepul dat come to da hows.  I not sure what I do if someone
else came over.

It been nice an warm here, and Mommy & Daddy have been openin up da tiled
room*, dey even left it opened last nite.  I slept onna chair owt der, and
when I woked up I saw a raccoon and a possum.  Raccoons are funny lookin -
dey have stripies over der eyes, so dey look likes masked bandits.  Possums
look like big rats.  Mommy and daddy cot one of my baby sisfurs onna owt,
and took it to da shelter for it to get fixed and released inna colony not
too far away.  We not seen any of my other sisfurs since den.  Mommy & Daddy
went out to da garaj to see if dey wer livin in dere, but nofing.  Dey
looked inna lidel hows day have in der, and dere was a possum innit!  Dey
couldn't get da possum outta dat hows, so dey pushed da hows outta da garaj
and closed up da garaj.   Noe der nuffin inna lidel  hows.

Den last nite my birf-mommy come around.  Mommy say she look fat, so she
prolly gonna have more kittens.  She not happy bowt dat - she say dey too
many kitties dat der not enuf homes for dem all.  Dey put fud owt for her,
and hope dat she will get inna trap so dey can get her fixed so she not have
more babies.  Weeble, Ernie Moe & I watched our birf-mommy eat up alla food
Mommy put owt.  She at alla it so she musta been hungry.

Mommy say she wanna use da pooter so I gonna take a nap onna desk and purr
like I always do.

Mimi forgot to tell me that I needed to explain the 'tiled room'.  It's our
enclosed back porch.  The windows are cheap aluminum storm windows, so it
gets pretty cold back there.  We only open it up when it's warmer so the
furnace won't run contiuously trying to heat the whole yard (we do have a
space heater back there, but then our electric bill will go up, in addition
to the gas bill, so we only use it on low setting).  The cats love it back
there, looking out all those windows and watching the birds and skwerls at
the feeders.  At night there are more creatures that come out:  o'possums,
raccoons and probably even skunks (if we sleep with  the windows open, we
can smell when one wanders past the house - it doesn't even have to spray
anything), not to mention the stray cats that come around.  We recently
spent a bunch of $$$$ redoing the floor (was a crappy carpeting down, with
linoleum tiles underneath, we tore all that up and put down nice ceramic
tiles).

Poor Kid.  KittyFC is mean to him and he just lost another friend.
Tweed, three adult cats really aren't that much trouble.  Boyfriend
needs a buddy.

Yes, Kitty is mean to him but he was lost and desperate for a home, so he
tolerated it quite well.  She still isn't very nice to him but as she is now
very old and grumpy, he tries to keep out of her way and she prefers to
snooze in front of the fire most of the day so it's not too difficult.
If I was to go to a shelter and choose another cat and bring it here they
might not get along, and I don't think it would be fair on Kitty.  If one
comes along as a lost kitty and is acceptable to them both, so be it.

Poor Boyfriend indeed, I expect he'll get over her soon. If it wasn't
for Kitty FC I'd say adopt a friend for BF but KFC might run him or her
off the property.

She's been gone since the weekend, now it's Friday and he's over it already,
in that he isn't looking for her any more.
Since Kitty had her accident she has hardly left the house.  Part of that
might be because it's winter, and frosty and snowy.  I shall know better
when the weather improves, and I'll see if she goes out more when it's warm.
She likes to bask in the garden in the sunshine.
But she is getting frail.  She has always been a very small cat but now I
can tell that she's an old, old lady.  She is very well in herself, eats
well, doesn't drink too much.  I guess she is probably gradually approaching
the end of her life.  Last year the vet thought she was around 18.
That's a good age for a cat that has spent a lot of her life semi-feral. She
now has a fire to sleep next to on a sheepskin covered bed.     And does she
make the most of it!  <just had a peep in the kitchen, yes there she is fast
asleep>
However, she is still not to be trifled with.  When she's awake she can
still bop Boyfriend all round the house and he would not *dare* retaliate.
He really respects her, and it's funny to watch because she is less than
half his size.  I don't think she weighs more than about 4lbs.  BF used to
weigh nearly 7, but he seems much bigger now, I must weigh him again.  Maybe
he is 10lbs.
He could turn round and just about murder her very easily.  Bless him, he
doesn't, he just takes everything she dishes out.  Awwww.

He say she norty cat but I not fite her, she old.

I say he's right.
