LLL = Long Lost Love. We dated for 2 years (1979-1981). The reasons for
the split were pretty stupid - not a fight or anything. (Oh, and he's 14
years older than I am.) We hooked back up in 2003 via phone - had had moved
to NE Arkansas in the mountains. After talking on the phone a LOT, in
spring, 2004 we met up again after 24 years; he'd been doing an art show in
Houston and he drove over to Dallas; flew me into Dallas for our meeting.
After the initial case of *nerves*, it was like no time had ever passed! We
spent 5 wonderful days together before he had to go on to his next show.
When I lost my job at the end of April, I began doing some of the art shows
with him - helping with the canopy setup, hanging paintings, tearing it all
back down, etc. He paid me a "salary" for doing so as well as paying all my
expenses (including boarding my pets!). Other than unemployment it was my
only source of income while looking for work between shows. At any rate, we
are again madly in love and kicking ourselves for not recognizing it for
what it was all those years ago :) The first show of the year is in
Huntsville, Alabama. He's driving through Memphis and will swing by to pick
me up!

Any possible name changes in the future, Jill? I'm sure that North East
Arkansas (If he doesn't have a show going, he could bring you both out
to Toad Suck, and we could arrange a wedding by the river bank, Very
romantic) has internet access, he has a cat and loves them, is very
adorable from all descriptions, and adores you. Has he asked yet? If
so, why haven't you accepted him? Persia needs a daddy.
I love reading love stories....

LOL! No, we are not to that point although we've talked about it. We were
both in long term (non-wedded) relationships before we found each other
again and see no need to rush. Skittish would be a good word for it :)

Apparently we (neither one of us) ever really stopped thinking about each
other. Maybe that's why we haven't had really successful relationships
since then. <shrug>
On our trip to Davenport, IA last fall he brought along a painting he'd done
in 1985 (we split up in 1981 and he'd since moved away). It started as a
still life of flowers on a table. But then he put ME in the upper right
corner of the painting. And then he added a Persian cat in the lower left
corner, strictly from imagination. He got it out of his truck, took down
the awful motel-room print and hung it up so I could look at it. OMG! That
*is* me! (or at least how I looked back then). He said yep. He said he
would never sell it but I could have it. Well I couldn't carry it on the
plane (it's 3 ft. wide and 5 ft. long). So he said he'd frame it and bring
it to me when he comes to pick me up this trip. Isn't that sweet? I have
the perfect wall for it.
