She hadn't exploded into motherhood by this morning, so I had Rob and
Mike take her to Doc Stevenson to be examined to make sure she is
pregnant and get a guestimate as to when to expect the kittens.
She IS very pregnant. Doc Stevenson's female partner checked her out,
said that Sonya looks very healthy, palpated the poor kit's tummy, and
found....a head. She said the head was about an inch in diameter. She
offered to X-ray Sonya to find out how many were sharing living space,
but Mike told her no, it would ruin the suspense. Good boy. As to a
birth date, the Doc said anytime between the next 48 hours to two weeks.
We've had Ms Sonya exactly a month, so She was between 20 and 30 days
pregnant when we got her. I'm leaning towards 30 days as I could feel
some individual lumps when I checked her tummy shortly after we got her.
So, that being said, Sonya will eventually poop those kittens out and
put me out of my misery. Its back to being a waiting game. I suspect
she's as tired of this as I am, if not more.

Well at least she seems ok. Poor girl. Let's hope by the end of the week.

Poor Sonya! And poor you. I hope for both your sakes the end is more like
48 hours rather than two weeks. She must be feeling very uncomfortable!
And you must have a pacing track worn out in every rug in your house by this
time.

Purrs for the poor mommie to be. Purrs she "poop" those kittens soon. Then
you'll have even more mayhem to deal with.

Has she picked out a spot to have them yet?

She spent yesterday and today hiding under the bed (again, we thought
she was through this) whenever someone walked into Mandy's room, then
trying to escape (new behavior) whenever some one left the room. We
think that she wants to explore the house for alternate birthing areas.
We don't want to have to worry about her, so am making her stay in
Mandy's room.

I can't stand to wait two more weeks. Tell her to get on with it NOW!

This is sounding like a reverse Immaculate Conception.

I was thinking it might be an elephant. Don't they take two or three
years? MLB

Elephant reproduction and governmental policy formulation are very
similar. Both take place at a very high level, the grassroots suffer,
and there are no visible results for years.
I do have the dubious distinction of having watched an elephant lose his
virginity, but that's probably more for rec.pets.elephants.anecdotes.

A politer way of saying it than Rob was putting it earlier. Lets just
say that if she wants to return the sperm, Rob isn't letting the tom
into the house.

At every party the gang holds, the girls get together for a special toast:
"here's to not being pregnant".
Purring very hard for Sonya to pop sooner rahter than later.
Yowie
(who often said "just get this thing outta me!" during the last month and a
half of pregnancy)
