The story behind Cleo, the newest addition is not particularly clear,
but she was a "brought in to PTS" at a vet for being "unwanted".

Cleo, when I got her, was a biter whilst petting. It was one of the
reasons she was returned from her adoptive home. Everytime she bit
me when I was petting her, I squeaked, backed away, and didn't react
but stopped petting.

This evening, she was sacked out on her back with all four legs in
the air in front of the fire and I started petting her again.
Instead of biting, she started purring. She then rolled over and
started washing me.

I think someone has finally realised this is their forever home. :o)

Sorry, just had to share.

Awesome, and CONGRATS on the newest owner! Amazing how a squeal
will work!  I wish Cleo could send that message to Shamrock. ;)

Awww, that's so sweet!  And I think you reacted very properly to the biting
to get her to realize it's not the way to behave with you.

While that has worked with every other cat who has owned me, that does *not*
work with Bandit.  Bandit will just bite harder when she knows she's getting
the reaction she wants - pain!!!   LOL

Sorry???  I'm so glad you did share that story with us.  It's truly
heartwarming.

When we first got Lady Jane Grey from our vet in the same
circumstances as (about) a four-year old, she was a snuggler and a
biter.  Chin and head skritches were OK, but bites followed (she had
been declawed by the previous 'owner') if she was touched on her lower
back or tail.  Even with the head skritches, you had to keep your eyes
open and watch for signs that she was becoming overly excited.

Seventeen years later she's my goodnight kitty who snuggles my beard
while I drift off to sleep.  I hope yours is with you as long and as
happily.

Regards and Purrs,
O J

That's sweet.  It sounds as if you nipped the biting habit in the bud ::bad
