Purrs for a baby

I don't ask for many purrs, however Ryan, a 4 month old baby  of a couple
who is near & dear to us, and who is effectively Cary's brother is having
surgery today. He was born 10 weeks premmie with a grossly enlarged kidney
due to a kink in the tube from bladder to kidney not allowing the urine
formed in the kidney to drain. Apparantly its a fairly simple operation to
correct the kink and has an excellent success rate, but it hasn't stopped
either of his parents (or their friends) worrying like mad.

Sophie and Mr Kittenhead (their two cats) knew something was up today and
have been extra affectionate before they left for the Children's Hospital in
Sydney, so Ryan is already getting purrs from those two (I'm their feeder at
the moment), and Shmogg and IBKFergus have been instructed to purr their
hardest for this little cutie. But any spare purrs and/or prayers you could
add would be greatly appreciated. Ryan and his parents will very grateful,
and Ryan's 'Aunty' Vicky, 'Uncle' Joel and 'Cousin' Cary will be very
thankful too.

"Worry" is a parent's vital sign, especially the parents of a baby having to
undergo surgery.  I hope all is well with little Ryan, and that the surgery
will ensure him a life time of good health!

Most certainly! Purrs and good vibes from Pommieland. I'll light a candle
for the duration too - I find a lit candle reminds me to think a good
thought, so to speak, everytime I see it. So multitudinous good wishes for
Ryan and his worried parents, family & friends.

I should think they're worrying!  Purrs for the child to come through
with no ill effects.  It's so tough to think that a little one is
suffering.  Fortunately, today's medicine can work wonders and while
there's no point in telling you not to worry, you know the chances of
a problem are small.

Purrs and gentle headbutts on the way for little Ryan, his parents and
his extended family. Any operation on one so young would be worrying, I

The operation was a success. The uptake of the kidney was normal, meaning
the kidney was operating OK, but htere was 120ml of urine in there rather
than the normal 2ml, which is why it was so enlarged. The problem was it
wasn't draining properly because of a kink in hte tube leading from kidney
to bladder. This has now been corrected and a stent put in place so that it
heals as a larger tube. Ryan was discharged from the hospital this afternoon
and is home safe and well. Ryan barely noticed anyting, but his mother
(still breastfeeding) and father are very very relieved, and are most
thankful for your kind thoughts. So am I.

Ryan goes in for a a check-up in a months time just to make sure everything
is OK and if so, the stent will be removed. All shold be well after that.

Thanks again, folks.
