What is the line about "being on the wrong side of every door"?
The weather is wet and cold. Buster decides he wants out. So I let him
out. He seems to like it.
A little bit later, Buster is at the window, and wants back in.
So I open the door, and he comes in. Dulce Mae decides that she wants
out, so she goes out.
Even later, Buster meows at the door to go out. So I open the door. He
goes out, Dulce Mae comes in.
This tends to go on all evening (heavy sigh - grin).

Methinks it might be time for you to invest in a cat-flap (or two)

I go through exactly the same thing constantly, except it's more in
service of one cat, than both. Miss Moxie is my restless girl. Nothing
satisfies her for more than a few minutes. So it's constantly up & down
to let her in & out. And she can be very insistent. Sometimes even in
bad weather, I have to open the door for her, to convince her that she
doesn't really want to go out. And in good weather, I get a lot of the
"one cat in, one cat out."
And no way to install a cat door. The times I mind it the most are when
Daisy is on my lap & I have to get up to let Moxie in or out. Poor
Daisy.
