John went to another job interview this afternoon, and they hired him
on the spot. Actually it's a probationary trial because he doesn't
have any concrete proof of his abilities to show them (it's a printing
company and he'll be doing the prepress stuff), but they're giving
him a chance to show them what he can do :) Their prepress guy left
today, so they really needed to find someone fast. So keep those purrs
coming, but this time we'll need them to be encouraging new job purrs
because he starts work on Monday!

Most excellent! The purrs continue.
No news on the job front here. No new leads, no call-backs from the
places I've applied with.

I hate that - they could at least do the courtesy of sending a letter saying
thanks but no thanks. When I applied for a position at a place where I
worked 14 years ago, heck, I still knew most of the employees! The guy who
interviewed me was at one time in the same department as me. Did he ever
get back in touch to say sorry, but we found someone who already knows SQL?
Nope. You'd exect a little better from someone you actually *know*. I
expect that courtesy from any company but these days courtesy doesn't seem
to count for much.

Boy, ain't that the truth! How hard is it to send even a "thanks but no
thanks" e-mail? Sure wish these companies had a little more respect for
common courtesy.

Great news! Continued purrs that it works out. Most jobs have a
'probationary period'; he'll be the best pressguy they ever saw! :)

Purrs on the way, even if they aren't really neaded now. I'm sure he'll
do OK on his own.
