Well, he pooped a little bit today. I think every little bit helps. He ate a
little at lunch, but even when well, he doesn't like eating in the middle of
the day. However, tonight, he *wanted* something. Kept turning his nose up
at the gruel I make but instead of leaving the kitchen, he went over to see
what Pearl was eating so, I knew he really wanted something, so I opened a
can of chicken Fancy Feast. Well, sans tuna juice even, he plowed into it.
He didn't over eat, but ate a decent amount, especially considering that he
hasn't been eating normal amounts. That was what put the bell on in my head
to check the cat box. I don't expect we are done by a long shot (there was a
LOT of hair in there) and he is still doing some of that licky thing, but by
golly it was nice to see a real "dig in" at the wet food like a normal cat.

Oh! and just now he really stretched himself around in the kitty cup and did
upside downy head instead of just staying huddled in a curl like he has
been. First time in days I've seen him "relax" like that. :)

Upside downy head is a good sign! Continued purrs for Grant to get rid of
that nasty hairball even if it is in bits and pieces.

Excellent! FWIW, his poop will be almost pure hair until the clog
passes. It may also look dark. It's just gross!

Good news Karen. He should be passing it. I know what you mean
about resorting to the FF. I've had to do that with Scarlett even
though I fully planned to never expose these kittens to "junk
food". She just turns her nose up at the good stuff, even though
she was raised on it since she started owning me. She's just too
skinny to let her get hungry enough to eat what I give them. I
don't know what it is about "good" food, but it must be nasty!
Any way, sorry for my own rant and purrs for Grant to pass the rest
of the big hairy poopy.

That's wonderful news! Yay, Grant!
Continued "Move that hairball through and OUT" prayers and purrs are on
the way.
And that was good logic on your part -- getting that nasty hair out, even
if it wasn't the whole thing, makes more room so he'll feel hungry and
want some food again.
And here's to seeing the food help make the rest of that nasty thing keep
moving until it's out.
P.S. Don't beat yourself up over this. I think the only cats who AREN'T
susceptible to this happening are the hairless ones like the cat in the
Austin Powers movies. I think that kitty's name is Mr. Bigglesworth, and
other than him and his ilk, every cat that there is could go through the
same thing Grant is dealing with.

Great news!! And he must feel relieved to have room in his stomach for
the food. It is a good thing he seems to like the Laxatone. Let's keep
that hair moving! ;-)

Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to be doing as well today. He threw up twice
last night (but not food, that is always good. The food seems to stay down,
which means its going through). Didn't eat super well this morning either.
Am hoping is just par for the course and will just continue as we have been.
But time is short. If he isn't remarkably better by Monday, we are going
back t othe vet.
Christine Burel - 19 Feb 2005 16:14 GMT
Sure am going to be thinking of you both this weekend -- purrs continuing.

Great! I can't think of anywhere else that a kitty poop would be god
news. ;-)
