Marking of the territory

Waffles is making a stand, well, she and I are standing together even though
we are outnumbered by the males of the species in this household. She & I
are outnumbered by two to one: Vernon, Nathan, Francis and Marble.

In true feline style, she seems to view yours truly going to visit the
smallest room in the house as a chance for she & I to mark our territory.
She follows me into the smallest room and whilst I'm sat there,
contemplating the world to the sound of Niagara Falls, she lifts her tail
and does the shimmy of spraying against the door, without actually spraying
anything. We girls must stand together against the male onslaught and mark
our territory together it seems ;-)

Nikki does that shimmy, too, but not when I'm in the loo. No sisterhood
here. :o/ But then, we outnimber Frank. ;o)

Is that what it is -- marking territory? TuTu only does it by her supper
dish. I thought she was being extra happy at feeding time.MLB

Robin does that, too. I am very happy that there is really nothing
coming out of him. He "sprays" the side of the fridge, sort of. But it
is near the wood stove and to keep the fridge from getting too hot, i
have an old plastic shower curtain hung up beside the fridge. For the
last year Robin will sometimes be walking along and suddlenly swivel
and swipe the curtain with claws as if he thought something waas
attacking him! The bottom of the curtain is now fringed. And it is the
fringe he sprays. That is his playtoy and the other cats better not
mess ewith it! I wonder what he thinks when he doesn't smell his
"spray" on it? Or is that reason why he does it so often? <snicker>
