Champ is not a cat, but a dog. I would be grateful for some prayers for
his safe passage to Rainbow Bridge if that's possible?

His story is such and is long...

My moms best friend Linda spent a great deal of time with her husband
travelling with the USA Foreign Service. On a posting in Nepal about
8-9 years ago, she found an ill puppy that had been born to a feral dog
outside. She rescued and adopted him for Colin, her youngest son who
was about 8, so that he could concentrate on something other than Linda
fighting cancer (she had a brain tumour), which she was doing at the
time.

Champ travelled the world with her and her husband, growing up in
Nepal, going to live in Africa, and eventually returning to the USA a
few years ago. He helped Colin whilst his mom fought cancer, and he
helped Linda when her family flew the nest. Because Linda had such an
agressive cancer, although it is now in remission, she suffers
seizures. Champ helped her through these, and more recently, when
Lindas husband went to Afghanistan, Colin went on a 12 month Scolarship
to study in Germany, and Lindas two oldest sons went to Iraq. They are
all still there, and Linda is very much on her own at the moment.

Champ became very much Lindas companion whilst she deals with her
family overseas. Linda has been ill for the last few days, so my mom
and dad have been taking Champ out and making sure he got his daily
walks.

According to my mom, Champ had been under the weather recently, and had
been losing his fur, but the vet had been unable to find anything
seriously wrong. He put it down to a food allergy and when Linda
changed his food, Champ picked up. Yesterday, Linda was ill, as she had
another seizure so mom went over to take Champ out. He was a bit
subdued and quiet, and a bit mopey. He also didn't really want to do
much.

This morning, Linda came downstairs to find him on his chair. He had
gone to Rainbow Bridge during the night. As you can imagine, Linda is
utterly devestated. She's also had to break the news to her youngest
son, Colin, who is in Germany.

Champ was a loveable mixed breed dog, even if he did hate cats and
other dogs. He adored his family, and he will be very much missed. If
he, Linda and Colin could have a few purrs and prayers that he has a
safe passage, I'd be very grateful.

Any animal who has shared so much of his life with a human family is
worthy of purrs.  We'll be sending out our best.

Farewell, Champ, you will be sorely missed. Hopefully, where you are
across the rainbow bridge, you have learned a more sociable attitude
toward your fellow canines, as there must be plenty of companionship
for play while you wait for Linda and her family to join you.  In the
meantime, seek out a Cardigan Welsh Corgi named Thumper who passed over
the bridge the day before you did.

Thumper was about 13 or 14 and belonged to my friend Pat, and he
collapsed late on Saturday.  He could not move his legs, and whimpered
in pain when he was touched.  On Sunday morning, Pat and her partner
Kathi took him on his last journey to the vet, and Pat was with him as
he got the shot and passed over the bridge. He was a dignified,
friendly dog with a tail wag for almost everyone. He is as sorely
missed as Champ.
