Anyone else have a neutered male who loves to fight?

I use to think that Smokey was super territorial and was defending his
territory, but I don't think that is the case anymore. One of his
former enemies, Rocky Fat Cat, was persistent and kept coming around.
He gave up fighting Smokey and would just hunker down and ignore
Smokey's carrying on until Smokey got tired and left. Then Rocky Fat
Cat would come in and eat. Now Rocky eats, takes a nap, and sometimes
stays all night and Smokey doesn't mind at all.

I think Smokey just loves to fight.

I don't let him out at night anymore, because the yowling and carrying
on would wake up the neighborhood, but as soon as he goes out in the
morning he heads down the block where his latest fight buddy, Big
Orange Guy, lives and I won't see him until evening.

During the night, Big Orange Guy, comes down here and yells for Smokey
to come out. He looks in the glass patio door and sits there and yowls.
Smokey sits on the other side of the door and yowls and huffs and
puffs.
Sometimes Big Orange Guy gives up and goes home and waits for Smokey to
come out later, but sometimes I have to get up and tell him to beat it.

Smokey always seems to get the worst of the fights because he has very
short hair while Big Orange Guy has longer, thick hair that gives him
protection. I must have spent a thousand dollars over the last couple
years getting Smokey patched up or sewn back together after a
particularly vicious bout.

Since all his wounds are to his head, ears, and neck, his doctor says
he never gives in. If he did, his wounds would be on his hind parts.
His stomach is always scratched up which indicates he is the attacker
and the other guy is fighting on his back. The vet says he is the
mellowest cat he ever worked on and he never has to sedate him. He just
sits there and lets the doc patch him up.

I'm thinking of organizing underground cat fights. I'll build a little
ring in the back yard and people can bring their tough Toms and we can
place wagers on the bouts. I'm sure Smokey would enjoy it and maybe I
can make enough money to pay for his vet bills.

Our original Siamese Sam was a fighter.  For many many years after he was
both altered and crippled in an accident.  He lived with a three inch steel
pin holding one back leg together, but could still clear a six foot fence
using his front legs only.

The fourth or fifth time I had to take him to the vet for an abscess on his
face, the vet was being nice and assuming poor Sam was being picked on by
other cats.  He told me that unfortunately there was always one bully in any
neighborhood.  To which in all honesty I had to reply.  "You're right, and
he's it"
