Ok, so I'm playing a game of bubbels before getting to work (no, I'm not
addicted!)... :)
Anyhow, I'm down to 5 colors and I have a couple dozen bubbels in the
screen. I shoot out one bubble and suddenly I get the "game over" sign
with 8290 points!

It means you're not supposed to be playing that evil game, of course!

David, that is what happens every time you are down to two colors.
Victor, I can't explain what happened to your game.

No it doesn't: eleven times out of twelve I clear it before the five
minutes are up.
But just once I got the game over sign without a crash and reckon I
ran out of time.

You only get the 5-minute thing when you get down to two colors. :-)

A rambling reply. Victor, this is very sad, obviously the infernal
machine has developed an aversion to Bubbels and has released a gremlin
into the works. This happened to me once when I madly kept playing
solitaire - the game came up and then kept vanishing.I tried everything,
uninstalling solitaire from windows and then re-installing, no good.
BTW I am impressed by the Firefox screen showing your problem. Wish I
could do that. I am hopeful I will soon get a low enough score to brag
about and it would be nice to show it to everyone. I managed to get
45,000 the other day!
One solution to your problem could be to to substitute another game for
bubbels, hehe.

I have no idea what it could be, Victor. That never happened to me.
Luckily, I've been able to escape the clutch of bubbel mania and have
not played since I got that awesome score of 16800 after clearing the
screen. I am cured and I hope you will soon be too :-)

Hey, I must have missed that post! You beat my low score of 18370!!!
Unfortunately, getting that low score did nothing to help stop my addiction
to the game! ;>

It's those greeblings at the bottom of the screen. They did it so you
will never be able to stop playing Bubbels. You see, now you will have
to continue, just to see if it will ever happen again. ;o)

I know! But can I still claim the low score? ;-) I mean, technically,
the game ended and I did not lose (the bubbels never touched the bottom
of the screen)...

LOL!! OK by me, I just learned that Britta beat my low score anyway, so
it's up to her to grant you this boon! ;>

Looks like a bug to me. I've seen some really wierd stuff happen in
the bubbels game. Hey, we should volunteer to be beta testers if the
author wants to write a new version!!
