Since Shroder went to the RB my wife and  I have been looking for another
cat. We finally found one last night. Another orange tabby, of course.
He came from a young woman who was giving him up because she was never
home.
So, we bring him home, get him out of his  carrier in the living room.
He investigates for a couple of minutes, Libby was staying up in her
chair just watching. Then the new cat went under the couch.  I was
concerned that there might not be enough room when we sat on the couch,
so I tried to get him out. He said" Oh please, let me stay here." in
the way that cats have. So I left him and went and cleaned the blood off
my hand. :-)
Anyway, my wife works graveyard, but she had lastnight off, so she was
home and awake. I got up this morning and she told me that the new cat
had come out and wandered around a little bit. Then went over by the
computer. But he was not there. We looked all over the place, and
he was nowhere to be found. Looked in every closet, every nook and
every cranny, so we thought.
We finally gave up and decided that he would reappear when he was
ready.  I went in to fix some breakfast, and happened to look up. There
he was, on top of the kitchen cabinets. He had jumped up on the counter,
then the refrigerator, then the cabinets. He spent a good hour up there
after I saw him. He finally came down got a little bit of water, and
then he hissed at Libby, my wife, and then me. Then he moved very
slowly into the living room and finally into the bedroom. And that is
where he is now, complete with food, water, litter box, and my wife who
is sleeping. Hopefully he will relax and come around in a few days.

And my job udate. I am still waiting on them to finish a background
check, hopefully I will hear within a day or two.

Pearl does that. I finally put a little fake sheep skin thing up there and
she goes up to nap. Never for long periods of time, but just as "something
different to do".

Poor boy. I guess he is confused and upset. I hope he comes around soon.
What is his name?

Crossed fingers!

His name is Morrisey. And I am quite sure is he is confused, upset and
scared out of his gourd. Although I have been able to pet him a time
or two without any over reaction. It will take time, I know, and patience.

Purrs for your job search, and of course that the little orange guy
chills out and comes around soon.

Purrs that you soon hear about the job, and purrs for your new cat too.
It's very strange for him to be in a new place and I expect he's scared.  He
doesn't know that you're nice people. does he?
I predict that in 2 weeks or so it will be as if he's lived with you always.

Good luck

Well, I am not sure it will be that fast, but he should be pretty well
acclimated in a few days.
Libby was curious at first, but now just seems to be herself since
he is back in the bedroom.

Good luck on the new job and the new kitty. Give them both time, they'll
come around ;)

He certainly knows how to make his feelings clear. =o)

I have some high shelves in my kitchen, and when Pan was young, he loved to
sit up there and watch me cook my meals.   I also keep a round, shallowish
basket  on the top shelf, and one day, I realized it had grown black ears
and a tail. =o) Curled up for a nap, Pan fit inside the basket perfectly.
Unfortunately, as always happens in such situations when the cat has "posed
itself" I didn't have a camera handy. Nor did I have a camera the day I
found the late Isadora curled up asleep in my fruitbowl when she was just a
kitten. (Francesca also likes to watch me cook, and she has staked out the
top of the refrigerator as "hers.")

Hey, strange place,  strange smells, strange hoomins and another cat to
negotiate space with.  He just needs some time to realize he has a nice new
home, and has acquired a nice hoomin staff.  I too predict he'll begin to
feel at home, soon, too.  He and Libby will have to work out their
relationship, and it might take a couple of months for everything to shake
down between them. Congratulations on the job news from the other thread!

LOL, awww. Poor li'l guy. Poor you, too. Here are some purrs from my
recently-arrived felines that the new orange tabby will settle right in
and feel completely at home, pronto.

home stuff can be FUN, honest!")
