I reached down and picked up Bonnie. And she let me.
That is all. :)

That's enough. That's wonderful. I don't think I'd found this group when
Boyfriend first allowed me to pick him up.
I was so excited and pleased about it that I immediately mailed my German
friend to tell her. It was very late.
Good cat person that she is, she mailed back almost immediately with
congratulations.
Now Bonnie is feeling safer, it can only get better. BF now lets me stroke
his beautiful soft feeties and his tummy. It's taken a long time.

How wonderful!! We must have been on the same page last night. I was
trying to pick up Antonio, my semi-feral (more feral than semi) but I was
unsuccessful. I screwed up by trying to use a towel, and the towel seemed
to scare him.

That is wonderful. See Bonnie? That didn't hurt did it?
Keep making nice a little at a time and I'll bet you get all kinds of
treats. BTW Petting and ear skritches are a treat. You'll find out
someday.
And humans are kinda cold by cat standards, but they are much warmer than
most everything else around.

Thank you everyone for the support. I'm answering in a single post
for brevity. I hope none of you get offended when I do that? But I
sincerly thank you all for your posts.

LOL Oh, she loves skritches and petting, and will occasionally sit
on my lap for a minute or two. She likes affection on her own
terms. Nothing wrong with that! But being able to pick her up will
help so much when it is time for her vet visit, or if she ever
needs to be medicated for something. Plus, like you guys said, it
shows more trust. :)

But not including heating pads under a fluffy fleece cat bed on the
couch. lol
