I had picked up Imp this morning and giving him some scritches when I
noticed his bald spot on his right shoulder.
Some of you might rememebr that I had found this bald spot after Xmas.
It's not red or scaly or anything, but it has two tiny marks in the
middle like bite marks. I figured it was from a tussle with Mischief,
so I figured it would just grow back or something.
Well when I noticed again this morning, I saw that there was no sign of
any fur growing back. I was a little concerned, but according to all
my books, he had no symptoms of any kind of dermatitis.
I was going into work anyway, so I figured I bring Imp along. Oh yeah,
that was fun. First I scooped him up and shut him in the bathroom. He
REALLY didn't like that, and liked it even less when I opened the door
again with the cat carrier in my hand.
He's a very quiet kitty. He didn't make a sound the entire trip, but I
could tell he wasn't happy.
So I take him to work and ask the doctors to take a look and give me a
second opinion.
The consensus is that it's a scar, probably from Mischief, since I've
never noticed it before, and he's an indoor kitty. The thing is, the
hair is not going to grow back.
So poor Imp has a permanent bald spot on his shoulder about the size of
a dime. Awwwwwww!!!
You can't really see it unless you pet the fur the other way and look
for it, but it's pitiful and cute at the same time.
But of course I was at work, so I couldn't just take him home, so he
sat in a cage for the rest of the day. I got him a little cloth cave
which he hid in for the rest of the day. Every now and then I would
look over and see a pair of ears peeking out. Any time I had a spare
moment I would visit him in his cage and give him loving scritches.
I can't imagine what it must be like for him though.
"My hoomin works in cohorts with TED!!!! She's actually helping him as
he's TORTURING those animals. How can she do this? How can she hold
that dog and allow that evil doctor to stick that THING in his rear?
What is she doing to that cat? No, it CAN'T be!!! She's taking his
blood!!! Oh the horrors!! My hoomin must be possessed by TED!"
Well we're home now, and he's not hiding under the bed. And he looks
like he's forgiven me a bit, but he won't let me near him.
The thing is, given the size of the bald spot, Mischief must have
really gotten him. I wouldn't be surprised if they were wrestling and
she finally had enough and let him have it.
Ah well, life goes on......
More later,
Kristi

Christine (Robin has a bald patch on his hind foot from something similar we
think.)
