Hi folks,

Many many thanks to everyone who has sent recipes for the Catslaves
Cookbook so far - we have LOADS! (also gleaned from Google)

If anyone still has something they were thinking of sending, can you let
me have it within the next week, as I will make a start after then.

Haven't had many pictures though.... if there's anything you want to
send - cats, people, places - just email it to me or tell me where it
can be downloaded.

TIA,

Deb.

here's my contribution :)       Shrimp Creole

3,4, or 5 lb. raw shrimp, peeled
1/2 stick butter
2 large onions, sliced
2 green peppers, sliced
3-4 medium stalks celery, sliced
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 large can tomatoes, chopped
1 C. beer
2 T. parsley
1/4 tsp. thyme
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. cayenne
1 T. sugar
1/2 T. Worcestershire sauce

Melt butter in large pot. Add onions, green pepper, celery, and garlic.
Steam under low heat until vegetables are cooked. Add spices, beer, and
tomatoes. Heat until it bubbles. Add shrimp and simmer until shrimp are
done, 20-25 minutes. Serve over rice or noodles.

You either love them or you hate them.  I just love them.  I prefer then
with saltine crackers and a really strong cheddar cheese.

I love them too. I eat the kind in oil (well, sometimes water, if I'm
feeling guilty about the amount of fat in my diet) on toast (no butter, so
salt, no pepper). The cats would love them, but I won't let them eat mine,
so they have to be satisfied with the fishy stuff left in the tin.

I like them best in mustard sauce, as a sandwich on pumpernickel.
I also like anchovies (drives family & acquaintances nuts) - but a
pizza just ain't a pizza without anchovies!!

Like Marmite, they are an aquired taste, and both taste good to cats.
:o)

HRFL Tiger respectfully asks Captain Pine Cone whether he would like
some more English tea-bags for the human and a jar of marmite for
himself.

Murowl, Marmite sounds like a good thing.  It'd be a change from all the
fish we've been eating here at sea.  After her rude comments on
sardines, I'm not so sure the fat wench deserves english tea.  Any fat
wench who does not approve of sardines is not civilized.

Thanks,

Cap'n Pine Cone esq.

I did find one or two from you in the Google archives, so if you're
really pushed for time then no worries :-)

Any photos, though, would be great!

Should they be food-related? Or cat-related? As you might know, I have
tons of the latter, but not really any of the former. Except if you
count a couple of pictures of voles that Nikki has killed. ;o)

:-)

Cat-related is good, then I can put them next to your recipes, kind of
like an author pic, but different :-)

You want pics of the author, too?  I could email you one of me.  I've often
wondered (outside of some in the links with cats here) what our rpca pals
look like :)

If you would like to send one, and if you sent a recipe - just thought

Are you a member of catslaves?  There is a folder there called Hoomin
Pics and has pictures of about 40+ members of this NG.  Some are of
members who are no longer active, but still.  You should go and have a
look.

Oh yes! but I wouldn't want to use them without people saying so. Am
happy to lift pics from there if it's OK with those concerned?
